why is he playing and I'm not? Because he's a whole whole whole lot better than me. I take lessons from him, not the other way around.

 

Why do you think I am giving up on him? I also believe I understand the degree of challenge he faces. A person has to learn to compete at the next level. Some learn it fast, others not so fast. I don't know how fast he will learn, and of course I hope he learns very quickly. But he will still have to learn. People in general when facing this kind of challenge can interpret what happens in a million ways. I hope he comes out more optimistic about his capacity to compete at this level than at the start. That is not 'giving up' on him.

PGA tour had his last drive at 305 on the 17. Doesn’t look like he used driver except on 14 and 18 based on the distances.

I’ve never watched a senior tour event closely before. Disappointed that FS1 is covering this as the final round of a major and focusing on a couple of name groups. Show us the whole field.

17 is short but the green is tiny as related to the reachability. If he's not on he need to be in front of the green as there's tons of slope coming in from the sides.

Maybe you're doing it unintentionally, but you're talking about future tournaments two holes into the biggest senior tour event of the year and referring to this tournament as some sort of warm up and experience. He qualified for this event; he's ready now. He's out there hitting golf shots, just like every other player, and he knows how to hit golf shots.

Seems to be playing well now. I was a little worried there for him after that rocky start. If he can pick up a shot or two over the last five holes, I've got to think he heads into tomorrow's round with some real confidence.

Most of the people that are + on the day have shot 5 or more bogeys. Monte’s 2 doubles are the only thing really keeping him back. He’s played better golf over more holes than a lot of people ahead of him. If he can get closer to even and shoot under tomorrow, which looks pretty reasonable, I could easily see him making the cut.
