City of Dallas courses went to 12min. tee times

I'm assuming that all these courses spreading out the tee times to 10, 12, 15 minutes or whatever have a starter that makes sure that gets adhered to. Our course has always been 7/8 minute interval. We decided to go to 10 minutes but without a starter it didn't do any good. People just teed off as soon as the group ahead cleared. So we went back to the 7/8 interval.

This past weekend was also the first weekend that we ran out of carts and people had to wait for other groups to finish before they could get a cart. Both days. And, speaking of carts, did anyone else hear what they did at Stonebriar CC? This is what we heard. They assigned carts to members via a lottery drawing and these people are the only ones that can use that cart. If you didn't get assigned a cart then you have to walk if you want to play. I'm thinking they may have a lot of pissed off members right now.

Denton County order that expired 4/30 only allowed personally owned carts or a cart could be assigned to an individual for the duration of the lock down. Stonebriar had received a new fleet of carts during Corona. From 4/22-4/30 Stonebriar assigned carts to those on the annual cart plan, those with disabilities who were unable to walk, and the remaining few carts were awarded through a lottery. On 5/1 the assigned carts went away but due to the one rider per government policy tee times have been at 15 mins to prevent a cart shortage.

Plantation has a few good holes though and it was in good shape when I played there. You can't complain about The Glen when the greens fee is $12. Maybe they've raised it now? For $12 those greens were always quite good.

I've been hitting up Thorntree the last few weeks which is just south of Dallas. Been loving it, and its very affordable. I've been out there a few times now and its like I have the course to myself (after 3pm). Actually has elevation which is a good change of pace from Dallas. Also, for the range and some casual rounds, Keeton Park is awesome and super cheap

Wasn't Thorntree fully private at one time? I see they say they are semi-private now.

Yes, used to be private. You wouldn't know it by the clubhouse/lockeroom. Very dated.

Anyone been to Texas Star recently? Playing Sunday if it does not rain and it should be in great shape as usual but just checking.

I moved to Fort Worth last year and have played every public course this side of the metroplex except for Texas Star and the Rangers course.

 

Waterchase is my favorite course. It's not in the best part of town. And the clubhouse is a trailer. But the golf course itself is fantastic.

Played there Yesterday. Overall conditions are great but the greens are still a bit bumpy from being punched.

Played it early last week. Tee to green was great. Greens were bumpy as hell. Why did they wait to punch until just before reopening? And they didn't tell us they were punched...

The courses that I've played lately have been Tour 18, Bear Creek West, Bridlewood, Sky Creek, Hawks Creek, and Riverside.

Tour 18's Greens were just awful. I had to walk it when I played, which I normally don't mind, but that's not a good walking course.

Hawks Creek and Riverside didn't have their pins in, which was weird, but I didn't hate it. I just aimed for the middle of the green, and didn't play terrible at either course. Chipping was the hardest part because that's when having a flag is helpful.

Bear Creek West, Bridlewood, and Sky Creek are all in good shape. Bunkers at Bridlewood could use some help, but other than that I had no complaints. I have no complaints about Sky Creek either. Bear Creek West does have the Par 5 on the front 9 (4th hole?) with the messed up fairway in the middle that needs to be fixed, but it's been that way for a while.

I'm planning on playing Indian Creek here soon, so I'll come back with an update with those conditions.

Well that is not good to hear! I was just trying to get conversation going on this thread thinking no way it will be in bad shape. They did not tell me either. Hopefully another couple of days will help. Taking some guys out there that have never played it.

 

Also did you ride or walk? Are they allowing walking in the AM?

Let us know about Indian Creek been wanting to play out there for a while. I think they have the Lakes course closed.

The Lakes course is open again. A couple of friends of mine played it recently and enjoyed the new layout from last year's renovation. They have different times where it's walking only and single person riding on both courses. More walking times are available on the Lakes course, so I'll probably going to play that one since I have a push cart. If it's really hot, I'll be that guy with the umbrella on my push cart giving me some shade during my walk.

Seemed like Westridge was the only course open during this mess. I heard that everyday was basically weekend-like busy. Nearly impossible to get on as a single.

We all rode. I normally walk with a push cart where allowed but they weren't allowing pushers when we played.

I sure hope they let us walk tomorrow. With all the rain today it will be CPO and a single riders it would suck.

Not sure why they didn't let you walk? I've walked Lakes several times in the last few weeks.

The tees and greens are perfect. Greens can be a bit hard since they are newish. Fairways are niceish. Rough is penal - avoid at all costs. Miss the fairway/rough or green and you're screwed. Your ball will bounce to who knows where.

I played it this morning and we did walk and it was awesome and even though they got 6" of rain you could hardly tell expect for hole 6. They are doing 15 minute tee times and we never saw the group ahead of us or the one behind us and played in right at 4 hours.

I walked a solo 18 in 2:30 Thorntree this morning. Great course/condition/value - just a hike to get out that way

I played Trails of Frisco yesterday and the tees and fairways were great. The greens looked like they're getting them ready to plant tomatoes.

They punched about a month ago. I think they are just getting so much play they have not fully grown in yet.

So I played Indian Creek Lakes this past Friday afternoon and Sunday morning. We walked both times, and it was a good price for walking. It was $26 on Friday at 1:30, and $33 on Sunday morning. Course is in good shape, and the greens were on the slower side. I think that's because they've been redone, but they rolled fine.

I hadn't played the Lakes course in a few years, but the layout seemed like it was the same as before, but with redone tee boxes and less trees. The starter mentioned they had a hard time convincing the city or county (can't remember which one) to let them remove some. The trees that were there definitely kicked me in the rear. I'll be playing a few more rounds out there this summer.
