I have combo set of cb/mb sitting in my bag with the plastic still on the heads begging me to take them to the course. Due to some stinkin virus the earliest these bad boys will see the course is in 6 weeks. I am busting to get these suckers on the course. I got 3-pw but would love to get a mb gap wedge to match (lefty). So if you know where i can get the gap wedge as a single iron from in Australia please let me know.

I’m still loving mine - all CBs with $ taper 130s. Word of caution though - these are soft forgings. I got them regripped and checked out the specs last week; specs had moved a lot in 18 months since I first got them. The 4&5 and then the 7&8 were the same lofts! I had noticed gapping issues with the 4&5 which is what led me to checking them, but not with the 7&8. They were generally a bit upright too, and had to be bent back to standard lie angle.

Probably not news to most on here, but some may be surprised to know how much they would bend over time.

Love my CB/MB flow set with TI X100's.  Been using them all season and have no regrets.  The black finish is starting to fade but nothing worse than I expected when I first got them.

Picked up a brand new set of the previous model at the turn of the year (bargain I couldn’t turn down after my son purloined my MP4s!!) but only played half a dozen rounds or so due to lockdown. First clubs I’ve had with C-Tapers and I’ve found them to be very smooth and stable. Dispersion is really good both fore and aft and left and right. GIR are slightly up on my MP4s and I’m putting that down to the shaft.

The feel off the face I would describe a firm and powerful, completely different to the MP4s but no less addictive. My only gripe is that I wished I had a full set of MBs. The feel of the CBs is very slightly ‘muted’ in comparison to the MBs...it’s minor but noticeable nonetheless and I’m not sure that there is any noticeable trade off in ‘forgiveness.’

Looking forward to getting more rounds in.

I have the stock combo set, the 7-P MBs are so nice that I wouldn't imagine switching them for CBs.  I'm not even a low handicapper, just inherited my brothers clubs after he hurt his shoulder.  I think the tungsten weighting really adds stability compared to other blades I've hit.  So if it's one or the other, my suggestion is MBs.

I actually preferred the CB’s and wished I had gotten them through the whole bag.

The long irons were a treat to hit

The world needs more low offset CB irons like the King Forged CB's

Yeah don't get me wrong, I think CBs are incredible too and hope for distances that require a 6 iron or up for me. Haha, now you have me realizing they'd probably be just as awesome in the full set, maybe just in a different way than the MBs.  I don't know, can't go wrong, awesome clubs.

To be honest, if they didn’t spin as much as they did, they’re the holy grail for CB’s.

Exactly. Never hit the King Forged Tour, but they had similar offset to the King Forged CB. Would take look at the new King (MIM) Tour irons, but Cobra seems to be having a hard time with production and product roll out this year.

As another option for a low offset CB, you could use any iron of choice and bend the loft 2* weak. Would reduce offset by 1 mm. Taking offset from 3 -> 2mm can make a big difference visually. Would increase bounce by 2* as well and may be beneficial to start with a low bounce iron. Vijay does this with his Mizuno irons for the same reason.

You could get offset under 1 mm 6-GW with the King Forged CB/MB's using the same trick.

@dmeeksDC it’s not an urban legend lol. Kbs c taper is bent tips problems for sure. 1000s of user accounts, my personal experience and our golf shop 95% c tapers sets that are pulled at least one shaft is bent. It’s not user error, it’s not installation error, they have been flawed.

Can you tell if the tip is bent before pulling?

Mine arrived early Saturday morning so I made a time for Sunday, didn't hit range balls and went straight to the course. Shot 74 and couldn't chip or putt to save my life.

I enjoy swinging them , they're more forgiving than you'd think but if you don't hit the middle you know it immediately. My mishits we're about 10 yards short... I toed a pitching wedge that I thought broke the club it felt so bad.

I'd be interested in swinging the 2018-2019 version with the dual weights versus my older single weight heads and seeing if there's a difference.

I need to take them to be loft and lied this weekend or next, I'm hoping that will tighten up my misses on the face.

I got a set 2nd hand of split Cobra mb/cb’s on Golfwrx yesterday. I do my own club building so I was able to check loft, lie and swing weight (2016 version).

The lofts and lies of the MB’s (7-PW) were spot on — the swing weights were exactly D2. The CB’s, however, were way off on the 6i and 5i. The 6i was 32* loft whereas it should be 30*. The 5i was 28* instead of 26*. All of the irons swing weighted to D2 except the 4i @D3, which is pretty good. Also, the butt of the shafts (c-taper 120 S) weren’t cut straight. The shaft cutting isn’t a huge deal, but I haven’t seen lofts off that much in any set of Titleist or Mizunos. Could be from the prior owner though..

Regardless, I’m very excited to compare these to my 716CB’s. They look amazing at address, with the least amount of offset I’ve seen throughout a set that’s not all blades.

Read my previous post. Specs were off a bunch in the set I bought. I will say these are soft, forged clubs. They were super easy to adjust on my loft/lie machine. Probably why you’ll want to check the specs each season or two.

I adore these clubs.  I have even go so far as to have purchased 2 full MB and CB sets with the same specs, thinking I could "flow" them as needed based on the state of my swing.  My observations:

I hit the MBs better, more consistently than the CBs up to the 4-iron.  4 iron CB is awesome for me, then it's all MB.  If I have the choice of one or the other definitely choose MB.

I have them in PXi 6.5 and the combo is just so smooth.

Agreed.  I don't know about you but when the greens are soft most full iron shots rip back anywhere between 6-15 feet.  I actually went to a lower spin ball (Prov1x to ProV1) and that's helped a bit.

Like others I've always loved how these look, pretty sure I could play them from what others have said. Now just finding a LH set in my specs or a set of heads cheap will be a challenge.

A little page bump if I may. I am waiting on a set of Srixons and in the meantime ordered a 2019 CB/MB combo. I had never hit them or honestly ever seen them, but had a trade offer for some clubs I wasn’t enjoying so figured what the heck. These things are amazing! Looked tiny when I first saw them but after one quick range session I was ready for a round and thrilled with the results! As said they launch the ball high but reach normal, predicable blade numbers. Hopefully the fun lasts since I have no idea when I’m getting my Srixon order, but in the meantime I’ll enjoy hitting one of the best feeling irons I’ve ever played.

They’re great clubs and yes the heads are smaller.

Re-Kickstarting this old'ish thread on these irons.

I have 4-9 CB and MB PW in my bag.  the 2019 models with the Tungsten.  And of course ... black DBM finish.

I have NO idea why these didn't get the fanfare they deserved (and still deserve).

Let's see:

1. True forgings

2. Compact - but not too small - CB design

3. Perfect top line - not too thick - not too thin .... just right

4. CB 'muscle' design stolen from the legendary MP-64's  (that's right ... compare the backs of the CB's with the back of the 64's)

5. Looks like Cobra 'stole' (borrowed) the profile from the legendary 716 CB from their sister company under Acushnet

5. Perfect sole width

6. Perfect sole camber (not too flatish ... not too scoopy)

7. MINIMAL offset (this is the key ... I challenge anyone to find a forged CB with this perfect offset)

8. and of course, the beautiful DBM finish.

9. Tungsten plugs in the toe and sole for just the right amount of help/technology.

oh well ... I love mine.  Perfect iron.  There's a full CB set for sale on BST right now ...I think.

I play these as well as a full MB set of Callaway 2018 Apex MB's ....  Cobra's are my favorite.
