Travelling to MN: golf ideas

Staying in the cities and northern for a trip

So going to hit these up, low 90s guy am I going to get my butt kicked?? My normal courses are 132ish slope in Az, these courses look harder ! After seeing flyover vids..

Weather up here is perfect right now. Some courses did have a rough time getting the tee boxes to come back over the winter so be careful. Troy Burnets however is in perfect shape. Its a great course that is almost like two completely different 9 hole courses. The front 9 has more of a links style feel while the back nine is more tree lined with water.

I switched from Wilderness < bad phone experience booking> to Quarry Golf at Giants Ridge. I should say I am only really in the cities for one day and will be around Aitkin after for blacksmithing classes and have at least three days to break away. So the 3rd time golfing is up in the air....I have heard some local advice to try some in Brainerd , MN

Since you'll be in the Aitkin area, I'd look at Minnesota National. It's a half hour northeast of Aitkin and a pretty good course.

There's also, just 15 minutes to the southwest, Jack's 18 at Ruttger's Bay Lake Lodge, if you want/need to play something close by. Not easy and stretches over 6,800 yards.

Then of course there are the usual suspects in the Brainerd area: The Classic, Deacon's Lodge, Cragun's Legacy courses, etc.

Wilderness is my favorite course in Minnesota and following their newsletter it's in good shape this year. The Quarry at Giants Ridge is a good one too but not sure how they came out of winter. Troy Burne is a gem, really enjoyed the round I played there. Have fun!

The Quarry@Giants Ridge is the best MN public and a top 30 public in the whole country for nearly 20 years now. That long a run at the top is proof of greatness.

Totally recovered from last year’s winter damage and back to their standard fantastic conditions.

 

The Legend@Giants Ridge is also a top 10 in MN course and we’ll worth playing - a pristine wilderness experience - you may not see another group because of holes separated by forest.

I’m going there in a month myself.

Other courses near Giants Ridge worth considering -

 

Mesaba CC in Hibbing - semiprivate - pleasant forest course, never crowded, almost nothing but forest surrounding the course - deer frequent the course. Great pro.

Eveleth GC - 9 fun holes with big elevation changes, lake views, and great hamburgers. On Hwy 53 on the way to and from Giants Ridge.
