Wood or Plastic Tees - Which do You Prefer?

Always wood tees for me, my favorite brands that make them:

 

- Stinger Golf (a lot of small companies do orders through them)

- Berg Golf Tees

- Western Birch Golf Tees

I started with wooden tees but then switched to plastic tees. Not sure what the brand was but the plastic tees I used seemed to be pretty hard on my clubs so now I've switched back to using wooden tees.

I've never had a wooden tee last more than a few holes.

 

Based on thoughts posted here, I bought a 5 pack of Martini tees 2 years ago, I still have 3 of 5 remaining in the package. I broke one after 16 months!

 

Last year, I found a bright yellow Martini step tee. It was like finding a 4 leaf clover! Easy to spot, and tees the ball up at the same height every time. (step tee convert now)

 


 

I use a "normal" tee for non driver tee shots. I also can't leave an abandoned tee on the box, I start the round with a Martini tee and a wooden tee in my pocket, and at the end of the round usually add 3-5 more tees to the collection.

Life's way too short to be searching around after every tee shot trying to find a $2 golf tee. Looking for golf balls in the rough is bad enough, I'll stick to tees that cost less than a nickel which I don't mind losing.

Wood for me. I use irons off the tee quite a bit, so it’s easier to get them down to size.

Wood for me, I always use light pink. Easy to find and I honestly use them just to be a little different. I buy a few bags of 100 at a time and they last for years.

Orange Martini for driver, and wood for everything else. Bought two 5 packs of Martinis and that should last two years easy. Found the first Martini and was very impressed. I do lean it forward, longer drives; maybe.

Surprised no-one has mentioned (as far as I can tell), the Callaway Par-Tee. These things are built like steel girders; absolutely unbreakable. Sturdy enough to pierce even the hardest tee-box. Plus, the wide rubber tip holds the ball even if the tee's in a little crooked. A little pricey, but for as long as they last a great value. I refuse to spend money on tees. I play whatever I find or get for free with the round. I have found zero performance benefit from different tees.

 

My home course started giving away short tees this year. I think they are 1.5”. I love these things for any tee box I’m not using driver on. Much easier to stick all the way into the ground than a broken tee and one will last a bunch or rounds.

Wood. I’ve heard white paint can mark up driver faces, and cheap natural wood tees just do it for me

I’ve never bought a tee in my life, these martini tees sound interesting though. Also a little hokey...do they have an “As seen on TV” stamp on the box?? Haha

I do not spend money on tees. I prefer to use wood tees, but will use any tees I can get. Love courses that give you free tees. Low key is so helpful.

I bought a package of 50 plastic tees four years ago, and haven't had to buy any since. Unless I accidentally lose one, they last darn near forever.

Consistent tee height. Low friction. And they last forever. Been playing the original set for six months. Still have all three.

There is enough trash plastic in the enviro that is killing this planet. Go Wood or better yet Bamboo. Both decompose and bamboo is pretty tough and good for "hard" ground.

Switched to "Martini Tees" from wood tees. Love them but unfortunately, I have a harder time setting a ball on a wood tee now! Will stick with Martini.

I've always used wood tees. Couple weeks ago I came across a plastic tee that was left behind at a tee box so I grabbed it. Haven't tried it yet

I use broken, usually wooden, tees I find on par 3 tee boxes; otherwise I use some flavor of plastic tees, as they rarely break and can use a lot of times.

I got a bunch of Zoom Tees Callaway branded, they last for years, easy to setup even on hard soil, bright orange so you can find them easily.

I've been using plastic for the last few years. Seeing some new lifestyle brands (Sugarloaf, TBC, etc) with their own wooden tees and gave a couple a shot. Lack of durability is almost a no go. Chipped or broken after one hit. Just means I need to carry more crap in my bag. Nah thanks.
