Driving distance of Omaha?

I am going to be in Omaha the last week of July. Fly in on a Wednesday morning around 10:00am and have the rest of the day to myself, just have to be in Omaha the next morning. Is it worth it to drive somewhere outside of Omaha (seeing great reviews for places like Tatanka, Wild Horse and Awarii Dunes) or should I just stay around Omaha and play somewhere like Indian Creek or Quarry Oaks? Open to other suggestions of courses as well. Thanks!

Wildhorse would be the only one worth the drive in my opinion. You’re looking at close to 3.5 hrs drive. Depending on the week you’re in Indian Creek may not be in the best shape. They usually over water severely for a week or so after the web event so greens are slow.

If you land around 10a you would be at WH around 1 (time change to mountain from central during the drive). After 18 holes and getting back to Omaha you are looking at 9pm at best. Long day but a fantastic track. I would recommend staying in the Omaha metro for golf and enjoying Omaha. I wouldn’t go to Indian Creek, Quarry Oaks or Bent Tree would be solid.

If you like to drive.... then if you do not want to go to Wild Horse, stop in Kearney at Awarii Dunes...

According to Google Maps it is a 2:45 drive from Omaha Aiport to Awarii Dunes, and it says it is 3:45 to Wild Horse. I have driven this route and I would add 30 minutes to each.... And Wild Horse which is just north of Gothenburg is in CST. So you decide how long you want to drive and how long a day you want. IF you stay in the Omaha area, then Quarry Oaks which is listed by GolfWeek Magazine as one of the top courses you can play in Nebraska, might be nice.

And if you bring you golf clubs with you it will take at least 45 minutes from when you deplane before you are in your rental car.... right now there are shuttles that take you to remote parking where the rental car agencies are.... this will change not sure exactly when.

Quarry Oaks was in Golf Digest top 100 public up until 2010-2011 - it is a really solid course, some great holes. I cant see the 2.5-3 hour drive being worth it when this gem is much closer.

Are you in town for business? It sounds like it to me, but I might be wrong. I love Wildhorse, but that is 6 hours of driving after traveling via plane to Omaha...and that's a long day for 1 round of golf. If you had a whole day...I'd tell you to get up early, make the drive and play 2 rounds and drive back...that would be worth it.
