Is weed legal in Ireland?

Why not? Have some in Japan, Mexico, USA, South Africa, Australia, etc.

That's the only way to make it "The Open Championship".

A wonderful song:

Well, they'll stone you when you're trying to be so good

They'll stone you just like they said they would

They'll stone you when you're trying to go home

And they'll stone you when you're there all alone

But I would not feel so all alone

Everybody must get stoned

It will be back at Portrush twice in the next 20 years.

_The R&A has already committed to bringing back The Open to Portrush twice more in the next 20 years, after it waited 68 years to host the event for a second time. It's the only course outside of England and Scotland to host the tournament._

If we are quoting Dylan, then the USGA must use "Everything Is Broken".

Just kidding, but figured a few would go there sooner or later, lol.

Having the R&A stick to ten courses in the British Isles is the same as the USGA saying, "We've got ten great courses from Congressional all the way up the east coast to The Country Club. We're set."

I imagine the R&A's resolve won't really be tested until China tosses a giant bag of cash at them.

Can’t see the R&A going down that route. Not sure why someone (maybe WGCs) doesn’t experiment with a World Open in the style Harrington talks about. Have qualifying tournaments just like US Open and The Open.

i don't think the ra would do that either, but if they did decide to hold one outside the isles, australia and/or ireland is where they'd go ... i don't think they need to have one outside the isles, though, and i'm fine calling it the Open regardless ...

Assuming you are in the US:

https://www.golfchannel.com/news/how-watch-2019-british-open-tv-and-online

The NBC Sports channel on Roku is where you can stream Golf Channel coverage -- however, it typically requires you to enter in your cable/streaming service credentials to stream the golf channel and I would be surprised if they lifted that restriction at least for the broadcast coverage. They are going to allow you to stream marquee groups online, but I'm not sure if they will make them available to the roku channel.

That said, most streaming services with Roku channels (like Hulu Live, YouTube TV, DirecTV Now, etc) offer a 7-day free trial. It might be worth just signing up for one of those, watch the golf channel coverage on the respective Roku channel, and cancel the subscription before the trial is up. Those services should also allow you to cancel immediately but keep the service active until the end of the free trial -- so that might be a good trick to not accidentally forget to cancel.

Thank you! I do have the NBC Sports app and credentials. I was hoping that would be sufficient. I just didn't want to wake up early, have it not work, and be in a bind. I think they show upcoming shows on the app, so I will double-check and make sure.

A better option would be moving the US Open overseas. There's way too many tournaments in the US as it is, with most played on utterly bland, soulless parkland courses that all look essentially the same. The rest of the world has a lot to offer. ?

Can we reply to individual posts anymore? Doesn't look like it. Anyway, for the two guys who had the car accident, I've been to the Republic and N. Ireland about 5 times (for golfing mostly) and along with SW England where I recently toured (yah, golf too) I met the friendliest, well informed and resilient people, more so than any of my travels and I've traveled extensively. I encourage others to go to England or Ireland and experience whatever they're there to do. We bought one of those National Trust memberships (if you're American they call it the Royal Oak Society) and you can get in free to any of the National Trust sites as well as park for free (which often turns out to be quite a savings.). Anyway, even if you golf your brains out you might consider seeing a bit more of the country.

Nice post. The National Trust is great!

Good job you skipped Essex and Kent otherwise your comments about England might have been very different.
