Oh nice. I see we get our Travelers coverage interrupted by the geriatric tour. Seriously, I accept the LPGA, these women are young and in their prime. They are good. But why do we have to be tortured with these old goats? Please tell me what other professional sport does this. Not being a troll. I sincerely want this nonsense to stop. At the very least how about their own network?

Just noticed they took the disagree button away, thanks for pointing that out.

And maybe that’s why? This is an interactive board and you are free to explain why or why not you agree with me or anyone else. Are you telling me that hitting a disagree button, that I would never notice, would satisfy you more than posting a response that I would surely read? There are no wrong answers. Say what you want.

Any one of those geriactic goats, or their caddies could give you 5 a side on your home course and beat you like a drum.

Of course they could. But you didn’t have to find an old pro to beat me. Don’t put me on your odds sheet, you’ll lose customers that way.

We are talking entertainment value. They are doing well or this wouldn’t be on tv. Old men playing golf sells unfortunately.

Personally for me there is nothing entertaining about it, especially when I know it’s causing me to miss the regular tour. And it bothers me because I do pay for Golf Channel programming. Sure I can spend more to get the app coverage.

But my question for you. If given the choice, would you rather watch the regular or champion’s tour?

lol ... your precious coverage of the regular pga tour wasn't "interrupted" ... the gc shows a variety of golf throughout the say ... and the seniors do have their own channel ... the GOLF CHANNEL ... which shows GOLF ... from lots of different GOLFERS ... they have contracts and stuff that delineate how much GOLF they, the GOLF CHANNEL, can show from the pga tour ... they make contracts to show women's GOLF, men's GOLF, senior GOLF, amateur GOLF, etc ... they show the 'old goats' for a bit because the pga tour probably doesn't want their product shown in its entirety every day ...

must make top 125 in fed ex pts by the end of the regular season, though they do not have tour membership and cannot play in the playoffs ... would be for next year ... they have 7 exemptions and earn more exemptions based on finishes ... a 10th place finish earns about 60 fedex pts, roughly ... need about 380 or so to be in the top 125 ...

or win ...

I'd say they have their work cut out for them. Late start in the season to try and play catch up. Wishing them the best.

There is a money aspect as well too correct? if they don't make it with the FedEx points? I think the Paulsen brothers were talking about how beneficial it would have been if Hovland declared pro prior to the US Open because of the 220k he would have made. But at the same time, he would have lost his amateur status that granted him the exemption to playing so he would have had to qualify all over again. ~~Web.com~~ Korn Ferry is based off money?

I think that he is willing to sacrifice a little power so that he can hit it a little straighter. Even with that he deep..

I can see yours and k22’s point. It makes sense. But I might not have been clear? It seems to me he has shortened it almost to the point where he could be creating more problems? Thats what I meant by unnatural. It just looks difficult to duplicate and under pressure I’m not sure I would want that. We all know how difficult it is to shorten our own swings. I guess he knows what he’s doing? It just does not look smooth. Now if he had average length he might have to find a different solution. I just wonder at what point do we need to find something else besides just shortening swing?

Considering his longer swing didn't even win on the Big Break to being a standout on the Ryder Cup team......I think he's doing ok.

I can promise you he has a very good "team" looking after him.

Harris English had 383 for spot #125. Beat that and you get a spot on the tour next year as Joaquin Niemann did last year.

The other spot to watch is #200 where Smylie Kaufman finished last year with 74. Beat that number and you are in the Korn Ferry Playoffs.

This page has the listing of how many FedEx Cup points non members have accrued for the season.

https://www.pgatour.com/stats/stat.02398.html

As you can see, McDaniel and Morikawa are almost there for getting to 74.

think so ... seem to remember looking up some money stuff when dechambeau was trying to qualify ... i think it's along the same lines - make the money equal to the 125th guy, per his fedex pts position ... not real sure, though ...

I really wonder how much Phil has left in the tank. The "he can play forever" was in full force after the Pebble Beach win earlier this year. Like last year, his game hasn't held up as the season progressed. It's pretty amazing how hard he's worked to stay relevant and win again in the mid-to-late 40s. Maybe his comments after the US Open were just emotional (he knew this was a good setup on paper for him to finally win it). But they also sounded like someone that is only in it for a bit more and maybe not of the mindset that "I can keep doing this until I'm 55."

I'm not sure if he lobbies hard for the President's Cup team if he doesn't make it automatically. The event is in prime vacation time - he would need to get his game ready again or risk having a very bad showing again. Will be odd if both he and Spieth are on the outside points wise.

BTW, was he playing the 3 Deep this week (Photo on Golf Digest)?
