How do you like the 6g? Debating between 6 or 12g.

I have the stability shaft so i can’t stay for ones who have stock shaft, the head is defiantly a lot more solid feeling going from 2g to 6g

ive got stability tour shaft too in both a spider and an x, I found I had to add the 12g to the head of the x as I just didn't feel like I could feel the head, with the tour one tho ive still got the stock weights in and it feels great

Personal preference thing.  I've gone as high as 20g weights on really slow greens.  Lots of weights available on ebay.

For anyone who has installed the weights, did you tighten with the TM wrench until it clicked or are they basically just tightened until there's resistance w/o a click?

I just tightened until resistance, like a normal screw. My weights have stayed in place without issue.

Bringing up an old thread.

Just got a hydroblast small slant #3. The Rory putter.

TM no longer has the 12 gram weights anymore but I can get the 6 gram weights or buy aftermarket.

 

I have heard of the aftermarket ones breaking but they also offer more options like 8 9 10 gram weights etc.

I think Rory uses 9.

 

Also has anyone tried to unscrew the carbon under plate?

If it can be removed I bet some lead tape in the back of it would be a great hidden way to add weight as well.

The aftermarket versions are fine (I've used both), the Taylormade versions seem to be a slightly better quality with the black coating on the weights and the screws, but not much and most non-OCD types wouldn't notice I'm sure - I tighten with the TM wrench until the click, but that's just me...

 

I have to say, considering the popularity of the Spider X putters, and their blades with adjustable sole weights it seems getting weight kits, individual weights, etc. should not be this difficult and you would think soiling their products w/after market weights would bother them. A curiousity to say the least.

I am toying with getting 8 or 10 gram weights.

I see amazon has which solves some of cost and return option.

Taylormade wants 20$usd who's reasonable but then wants 10$ to ship for something that could go in a standard envelope.

In Canada doesn't seem to be waived so total cost works out to over 30$USD and only 6 gram in stock

Hand tighten. I cracked one of the screws by tightening the screw too much.

The stock headweight of the spider x is 355gr to confirm? Switching to 6 would make it 363gr then.
