Possible to walk on as a single at Whistling / Blackwolf / SV/MD ?

My wife is out of town this weekend, and this might be my best chance for a while to check off a couple bucket list rounds.

Would be driving up from Chicago.

Has anyone attempted just showing up at Sand Valley/Mammoth Dunes, or even Whistling Straits/Irish courses as a single without a tee time? The weather seems a bit dicey for Friday and Sunday with rain in the forecast which is holding me back from actually making a confirmed tee time. Are any of these courses receptive at all to someone showing up as a single?

I'm able to pay the rack rate at SV/MD. At the Straits would be willing to pay the twilight rate at 30% off within 4-4.5 hours of sunset and forego the caddie (I assume I could hopefully get in 14-16 holes or so), their website says "Additional Rounds and/or stay requirements may apply for **_advanced booking reservations_**" .... Is this suggesting that possibly hopping on as a single for Twilight is a possibility? Or am I being too optimistic for a weekend?

I'd give them a call. They should be able to give you an idea how packed they are.

Agreed, Give them a call and see what they have available and what the weather policy is. All of those courses (and Erin Hills) are looking for full tee sheets. In my experience the Irish and Meadow Valley usually have open slots even on weekends, plus the Bull is right in Kohler.

Yes, I’ve done it. Call first. I’m Kohler, try and play the Irish first, then get the replay rate for either the River or Straights. Heads up, it’s a 20 min drive btw the two facilities. The Meadow course is really nice, and worth playing. Just not in the same league as the others.

If you have to choose between the two, I’d go to Sand Valley personally. But as others have said, just call and they should be able to fit you in! Just don’t expect to have a spot to go out as a single, not that I’d expect you were thinking that...

I showed up as a single this afternoon at Blackwolf Run. The courses were basically open. I played the Meadow Valleys course because I hadn't played it before, but the River course was also open. At $300 plus, it's apparent that their tee sheets have plenty of openings.
