Hello, I was wondering if any locals can let me know which courses are in good condition this month. I have a group from Texas who goes out every 6 months for a golf outing/tournament. We played Las Vegas Golf club last year in September and it was in horrible condition as it was supposedly being reseeded but not once did they tell us to expect those horrendous conditions. Any help would be appreciated, and if you could help in getting us a tee time as we would be great.

Check greenskeeper.org in August to get a feel for upcoming overseeding schedules on particular courses. Keep in mind that most courses will be on cartpath-only rules for a few weeks after the overseeding is done, and will be heavily watered during that time. Also, courses usually "scalp" the course by mowing the grass really low/tight in preparation for the overseeding a week or so before. For your trip I would try to find a course to play that hasn't overseeded yet on the dates you will be there.

Las Vegas golf club is prob the worst course in Vegas. But as Bonneville said above, you're coming right in the middle of overseed season. Typically, it's a one month process and most courses kinda stagger it to last August through October. A course will be closed 2 weeks, then cart path only for another 2-3 weeks. Coyote Springs is about 45mins-1hour out of town and I don't think they overseed, the course is in fantastic condition year round. It's a fun course, but it's really tough, designed by Jack.

Not sure about overseeding schedule but any time I see a Vegas thread I will always suggest going to Paiute. All three courses are great with excellent facilities as well.

Yeap, Paiute was in great condition last time we went. Normally we try playing something new.

I am heading to vegas mid september @rmj54. From my detailed research of public courses (best to play, and their condition/maintenance when Ill be there) your best bets are likely the same as mine:

 

Paiute Snow Mountain and Coyote Springs.

 

Snow Mountain is the only one at Paiute not being overseeded when i'm there. Coyote too (and i don't think they ever overseed up there).

 

Everything in mesquite and all the other top courses around Vegas and surrounding areas will be affected by overseeding when I'm there (13th-22nd).

 

I have not looked into anything private, but you are literally going at the worst time for golf due to overseeding (me too!).

September is a bad month for any course that overseers. You need to find one that doesn’t. Most good ones do.

Siena is usually pretty good, Arroyo not so much, which is kinda odd since they're sister courses. But it seems since Arroyo and Red Rock CC are in the same location, all the care goes to Red Rock. I played Arroyo not too long ago, greens were horribly inconsistent and the rest of the course felt like they didn't care much.

Going to be in Vegas September 22-25 for work so unfortunately can't better align my dates with maintenance. Does anyone know the maintenance schedule for TPC Summerlin? Haven't been able to find any info and don't want to waste the effort getting on if all for nothing.
