I'm really happy with the bag setup and looking forward to playing many more courses around.

Here is my homemade minimalist set. A 2000 era Macgragor M38 9.5d driver cut down to 44.5" and with a 88g mid-hi launch shaft (my version of the Original Mini Driver). The Irons 5-7-9-G are Acer Tour XV blade with Apollo 105g S shaft tipped a little. It is a very soft cast SS like I had in another set of Golfsmith irons that feel as good as some real forged blades I have played in the past. While they were very inexpensive these are some of the prettiest blade looking clubs I have ever seen, with very little offset. The quality isn't up to par with other clubs but at $14 a head I figure I'll just have them stripped and rechromed one day. The wedge is from Bang a 60d. The 15 degree hybrid 2i I got from Monark Golf. It actually looks about 16.5 deg. Also, it came in at 216 grams which is a lot lighter than most hybrid heads of this loft so I added extra length, from 40.75" to 42" w/a 92g shaft so it now looks and plays like a 5 wood, except the face is absolutely square, which had been difficult to find in fairway woods. The putter is a Ping Anser w/a round grip, but I am changing it to a WS 8883 copy.

img-20200725-111628.jpg

"Shirtsleeve" swing technique:

1. Setup: Elbows bent forearms pressed together against shaft slightly forward of center with "Hogan" "active/flexed" leg tension left foot turned out slightly and the right leg slightly farther to the right - weight mostly on balls of feet butt of left hands sits on the top of the grip with very light grip.

2. Swing - W/o disturbing weight distribution of legs and feet lower hands while doing a forward press "swing trigger" then the left upper arm takes over on the backswing, it needs to go out in front of the body then back in front of the chest as the hands trace down initially then up to over the right shoulder "Torres". The goal is to not disturb the pressure of the feet during the initial takeaway.

Notes:

1. Only swing thought after swing trigger - extend left arm at shirt sleeve when reaching left hand over right shoulder "Shirtsleeve technique".

2. The upper left arm move "Shirtsleeve technique" can be practiced independently without a club, sitting down for instance

3. The correct feet tension can be felt by doing very short hops on the balls of the feet then holding the same feeling of pressure on the front of the feet and then taking three practice swings with the grip very loose in order to not disturb the same pressure on the feet and on the 3rd swing actively do the "Shirtsleeve" move. From there the swing should be done within a matter of seconds to not lose the feel of the legs resisting, this way this is not a learned technique as much as it is a setup technique.

Thanks bud I appreciate that! Hit 'em long and straight!

image.pngI just replaced the 905R with a Superquad TP. Eventually I'll find an old Napa to replace the 2 ball as my regular gamer is a heel shafted putter. This sits in the trunk most days or my office and I will run out to the short course by my house after work and have a blast. I am really enjoying this as it makes the game very different. Alot of flighted shots.

First I will start by saying I'm not a great golfer. I am a bogey golfer with my handicap between 18-20 most of the time. I never had much control over drivers and don't have the time to put into my game to really work at hitting one. I'm very short and have always had good success hitting hybrids. On a good pop I get 200 yards out of my 3hybrid. The three courses I play are fairly short for today's standards so I don't need to be super long to break 100 which at the end of the day is all I'm looking to do. A handful of easy to hit clubs that I know well is all I need to enjoy the game. I'm not really score obsessed just enjoy a light bag and a nice walk around the course. My last round on a 5,900 yard course with this set I shot a 94 +22. The rating for the course was 70/128. Could I play better with a more conventional set? Sure but this is how I enjoy the game the most. Cheers.

Started a seperate thread on these but thought I'd share them here as well now that I finally got them all shafted.

The kicker is that I'm finding the regular flex in the irons too soft as it seems my swing speed is up quite a bit since I last got fitted

Right, the weather is beyond terrible so no golf and the footy match is dull... So here's my full time bag now:

Cobra f9 driver

Callaway warbird 5 wood

Mizuno mp h5 4 iron

Mizuno jpx hot metal pro 6,8 & pw

Ping k3 sw

Taylormade ghost half moon putter

This is the Emperor's half bag.  I use it when I don't feel like carrying.  It has 8 clubs, none of which are new and they all have the weaker lofts.  The 3 wood is about 40 years old, a Head Premise with 15.5 degrees of loft and very easy to use.  I don't have much problem with long and middle irons, so I put in Mizuno T-Zoid Pro II 3 and 5 irons.  The rest of the irons are a mix of Titleist clubs: 990 7 iron, 762 9 iron, DCI Black PW and a '95 DCI Black sand wedge.  The putter is an old STX Anser-style putter I putt very well with.  I always keep this in the trunk of my car in case I need clubs right away for whatever reason.  I shoot about the same with these clubs compared to my full sets.  I like the odds because don't like 8 iron then wedge because that gap is more important, so that's why I prefer 9, PW and SW.

Was about to sell off my half set of HMB’s and decided to throw them in a Sunday bag and add some old favorites. Hit them with the BB&F treatment and here it is.
