Hey everyone pretty upset with the QC on mine. Think this is something worth trying to get warrantied? I haven't even taken the plastic off. Bad stamping between the R and O then even a little before the N and then the left row top dot isn't punched all the way a little smeared.

Oh I would not be happy, and yes I would want refund or exchange if it was me. Seen a lot of issues already with qc, that's not good Scotty smh

Agreed, the Fastback that I gave my Dad for his birthday was immaculate. None of the things that yours is showing. The line especially does not go into the cavity like that.

Had mine out on the course for the first time today. Love the feel, my speed is way better than with my old Scotty original newport. Really glad I went for this one

Anyone else’s insert not flush with the rest of the face? Like you can drag your fingernail and feel it? I tried to grab some pics of it...

I don’t think that’s just a Europe thing. My shop hasn’t received their np2s yet either

I ordered my NP2 the day after these were announced and my shop won't have it until tomorrow, and my FB won't come in until Thursday.

After putting with it all weekend, I'm inclined to say this is the best putter Scotty (and maybe any OEM) has put out in the last 5 years easy. Insert has the classic TeI feel, a slight little 'click' and not overly soft, the new headweight is just great. It's very nearly a perfect putter for me.

Mine rolls great and feels good - balance and weights.

 

However.... not happy 100%. I will get a picture of mine on here. Got a newport. The Cameron stamping on the neck wasn't messed up but the paint fill wasn't complete in some of the narrow lines. And then, similar to your issue, towards the very heal section of the insert it is not flush with the face and sticks out maybe a 1/16th of an inch. They re-did the rubber/white housing of the insert so I am worried the insert with warp with age and need re-set. I am going to contact Titleist today. Besides that, I don't like the new pistol grip as there is NO pistol to the butt end of the grip.

The reason it looks like that is because the surrounding silicone(elastomer) is not flush with the face, exposing the edges of the insert. This existed with the original TeI3 as well. If you use a level, you will probably see that the insert and the body of the putter sit flush.

If @niscur24 is saying that if he runs a flat cardboard across the face, the insert stops him because it protrudes slightly above the face on the body, then that is different than saying that the elastomer is not flush with the insert and the body. I will say that both are kind of normal. I would be more concerned, however, if the insert is crooked relative to the body. It should be at least parallel to the rest of the face in both the horizontal and vertical axes. Should be fixable, however, in both cases.

I was wondering what everyone was talking about regarding the headcovers but wow, they are definitely cheap feeling! Also, what the hell is with that sight line milling?

The cover seems to be getting a lot of flak. Will be interesting to see what it feels/looks like. what is it about them that feels so cheap? Flimsy material? I can't imagine they're that much different than all his other covers?

I don’t mind the headcover I guess. It’s very soft feeling.

I like the headcover. I won’t use it because it’s too “big logo” but if it didn’t have all the embroidery, I’d be all for it.

i must have gotten lucky with mine, no real qc issues whatsoever. Only thing I've noticed is that now that I've used the putter, the insert does seem to get horizontal lines going all over it. I never had that issue with the Buttonbacks I've owned. Wondering if the quality of the insert is up to par with past offerings.

It's also being used with a magnetic headcover, not the stock one so it's not velcro scratches.

Yeah I just called them my options are to send it out for ~3 weeks to get repainted or dont haha I guess I will though

just use some paint remover and do it yourself and call it a day

Anyone liking the grip? I must have really big hands, because it's hard to get a good feeling. Thinking of swapping out for a Super Stroke.

I just got mine finally, and I had no plans to game it (Toulon Las Vegas is dialed for me right now), but after a few putts I seriously like this T22. The grip is on the small side but seems to work for me... your results may very. Be aware that this stock grip seems pretty light, so it will affect swing weight if you go with a likely heavier superstroke.

I gamed mine on Sunday and loved the feel. No QC issues with any of mine (I have 3).

Pistolini's are my favorite grips but I build them up with 5-6 wraps and usually put an extra wrap under the lower hand. Scotty changed these grips to be a little thicker on the lower half and I think they feel much better.

I think it's the best OTR putter Scotty has made in a long time. I haven't liked any of his OTR's since 2011. I never got along with the deep milled putters and I can't stand the feel of his current inserts.

This TeI3 was a home run IMHO.

My Newport 2 showed up today. I was getting a little worried when it didn't arrive to the store on Friday. Glad I landed one of these. Feels great on the office putting green. Can't wait to get it out to the course.

Just pulled my shaft in order to re-shaft. Here’s the Newport head weight with the stock 15 gram weights.

Well, I was placed on the wait list at my local store. I put in for both newport and newport 2 in either 34 or 35 inch. I received word that I was #14 out of over 200 people. The store received 40 total putters, four of which were newports (my first choice). With tax the putter would be about $636. I weighed taking it and flipping it but after doing the math, I declined, and asked them to notify me if if a newport became available.

 

That a local store received 40 total makes me think that the quantity is not that limited and that they may not hold value (as some other putters have and do). I hope they do hold value, but today, if I am not going to game it, I can't justify taking the pleasure away from someone else.

 

To be honest, I would prefer to find a beater, refinish it and maybe have weight added in the heel and toe, stamp my initials in it (to keep it in the family), and give to a kid or grandkid one day - as I did with an experimental long neck to my daughter.

You realize 4 out of 2,000 Newport’s is 0.20% of the total production run right? 6,000 is a lot of putters made.
