Horseshoe Bay

I was thinking about planning a trip for my non-profit organization out there. Anyone that is familiar with the resort, I am looking for recommendations. Mainly, how are the conditions, which courses are the best/most difficult/etc., is it truly family friendly? Also, I know iDeal usually has good rates for it, but anyone else know where to get deals?

Just got back from there and they are in great shape. Ram Rock is the most difficult(more placement and elevation changes) and Slick Rock is the easiest(wide open and pretty short) . Apple rock is still not back open from the renovation and they said it would be sometime between end of July and beginning of Sept. We have a place out there so let me know what more info you need.

Thanks! Is it worth the wait for Apple Rock? Or is Ram Rock more difficult? We like hard but playable. What is the best way to stay and play out there?

Apple is right in the middle of the two in terms of difficulty. Apple does have the best views of the three courses and i would wait if you can. Ram is hard but if you are smart and just play the course and don't try to over power it you will be fine. Especially if you can get the the first 9 in decent shape the back nine opens up a lot more. I would say just staying at the hotel is the best way and like you said they run deals all the time. They also have cottages you can rent as well if you dont want to stay at the hotel.

Thanks! Is the resort as nice as it looks? Is it a resort, or is it a hotel and golf course? Seems like there is a lake?

It is a a little of both. When you stay at the hotel you are able to use all of the resort stuff like the pool, dinning, tennis, marina, and spa. The hotel has it's own pool but the resort pool sits right on the lake and has a beach area as well.

Place has been fully remodeled over the last few years. Lots of needed upgrades. They did a great job.

Heading to Horseshoe Bay tomorrow for a weekend full of golf. Anyone been out there recently that can comment on conditions of the courses? It'll be our first time. Also- is the putting course worth doing one evening?

Putting course is entertaining. Walk around it look at the conditions and decided if you want to play. Not sure about current course conditions.

I played Apple and Ram at the end of October. Both were in excellent shape. Ram Rock was definitely the harder of the two, but if you don't try to overpower the course, you'll be fine.

I didn't play the putting course but walked by it. The grass looked like a pretty nice, closely mown, bermuda grass fairway. But after putting on the bentgrass on the course, meh, I could do without. It would probably be fun with some buddies and some drinks though.
