HELP: List of Counterbalanced, lower spinning shafts

CAT GOLFER

Recommended Posts

I haven't seen a thread with an extensive list of these kinds of shafts, and besides the buzzy and newer options I don't know what else is out there to consider. I assume there may have been shafts from years past that would fit the bill as well, just don't know many.

Can I get some insight from folks on a list beyond what I have listed, I am looking to experiment with a lighter option[60-70gm range]:

-Hzrdus Yellow

-CK Pro Orange

-T1100

-Pro 2.0

-Xtorsion Copper

-Aldila RIP Gamma

-...........

Thanks for any info you can add.

I've gone back and forth to the evolution II several time, gives me a decent mid flight. Older but you can find one cheap. I you can find one in the 70 range you should find they play a little lighter due to the counterbalance. The orange is the way to go if you're wanting spend a little more, great shaft.

I could have dropped a list of a few hundred shafts since all Woods with a BP higher than 23.00" is considered to be Counter balanced. (when 46.00" is uncut)

Diamana B has a BP of 23.500" (50 gram R flex) to 24.625" (80 grams X flex ) so they are slightly CW balanced depending on model.

Compared a shaft like Grafalloy Supercharged has a BP at 26.250" (very high BP)

In my DB of shafts, Mitsubishi has 172 models with a BP higher than 23.500".....im posting 1 list of the ones with HIGHEST BP (sorted with highest BP at the bottom)

For a "1 page" snap shot i could only find place for shaft with BP from 24.750" and higher - ALL Mitsubishi, but i have most brands.....so its better if anyone ask for a specific model, then i can see if i have that one and post those specs ive got.

Dont have them, they are to new for that, but i had 90 models from Fujikura with a BP higher than 23.00" but some Fuji models is 47.00" long uncut.

Here is the Fujikura models i could fit into a "1 page" snap shot, they goes from 24.00" to 25.00" as BP but a few of them is 47.00" uncut. The "original" 757 Speeder is on this list (BP at 24.750")

The tip weight used is only 200 grams, clamp is 5.0", thats why all numbers for hybrids and irons looks silly high, but im not the one who made this. (yes uncut shafts)

Thanks for sharing this info. I’m trying to process some info so I want to ask a hypothetical question. I’ve got a new 46 inch uncut driver shaft with a balance point of 24. After prepping I want the raw length to be 43.5 inches. Its not being tipped so its all coming off the butt end. Am I wrong to think that the 2.5 inches off the butt might shift the balance point? If this is true I’ve removed some or all of the counterbalance weighting which might have been one reason I wanted the shaft in the first place.

"Counterbalanced" is really a poor way to describe them because it can cause some confusion with that question. But no, they don't really have a bunch of added weight right in the very butt and you don't have to worry about changing the general balance of the shaft when cutting down to length. The designers are fully aware that the shaft will almost never be played uncut and cutting down to a range of lengths is an expected part of using the shaft. It's the mass distribution of the whole shaft is changed tweaked to manage the location of the balance point.

Balance point ALWAYS moves on "tip or butt heavy shafts", the question is the outcome of it all, but if you have Uncut weight, Balance point, Cut length (and from what end) AND the same specs for the shaft you compare it to, i can run those numbers in my Excel app and tell you both net cut weight, how much the shaft contributes as MOI value and converted to "Grams head weight" '(the effect of CW weighting) or as SW points. Normally a club as short as 43.50" loose a bit of the CW effect since those shafts has longer play length or higher head weight as "idea" behind the design.

PS! you dont need to know BP of the shaft we compare it to, as long as i get its model name, i have BP for most shafts thats 2 years and older in my DB where i can find BP specs.

Fujikura Pro 63, Paderson VMT 870 Amorphous and Diamana Kai'Li 60 walk into a bar.....

Which one has the highest balance point?

I'm looking at those three to replace the stock Evenflow Black 6.0 that came with my G410 Plus. Current shaft is in the 70g range and I find I'm sending everything to the left. Looking at the 60g weight range that I'm more accustomed to playing.

Not really, its a large database with a few thousand shaft models, but it takes a few seconds to make one, but BP alone makes no sense, they are not all of interest for the same player since both weight and flex is all options included, so if you have more criterias than just BP, the list might fit 1 page, but since you did not specify, here is ALDILA and those models i have in my DB staring with highest BP at the top, but give me some more specs to sort from, so the list makes a relevance to what you look for here.

OO5YLO5ESHO9.png

G7PR2LT219KW.pngHere we are getting close to the middle of the shaft, but BP is still on the butt side of it.

3BSA1RZRUMEH.pngThere is a total of 179 ADLILA Wood models in my DB, so this is just "some of them", and those with a BP 0.125 into the butt section of higher

@Howard_Jones Do you have any of the newer Tensei shafts in your DB? I'm curious on the balance point of Tensei pro white and tensei pro OJ.
I'm trying to play my 5w as a 4w now but the head weight is simply too heavy to be used on 0'' balance point shafts. Head weight is about 224g, played at ~42.5'', I'm around the D8 range, depending on shaft I put in. I'd like to not change or alter my grips in any form, so I will need to probably tweak balance a bit because I don't want to cut down any further. This is with my Diamana B70x shaft. I'm looking to get down to D4.... I may not have much choice but to use a heavier grip and other shaft... Or just abandon this head and find something closer to 218-220.

I dont have any Tensei models in that DB..sorry..

Heavy grips DONT Works, its a head weight issue, not a grip thats to light thats your problem (counterweight only works if we stay at the same TOTAL...20 grams extra grip weight, go down 30 on shaft weight = 50 gram shaft with a 70 gram grip....if you add 20 grams grip weight to a 70 Gram shaft, you get a 90 Gram CS weighted shaft...and you dont want a 90 gram shaft. Your optoins left is to reduce head weight (any screw weights to remove?), or last resort, go shorter....or grip down 5/8" = 3.75 SWP

I dont think they make lighter weights for the M1 5w. I can't find them... if you know where to get, plz let me know. I don't/can't cut down or grip down because I'll lose distance and probably some spin which isn't ideal. The m1 head already very low spin low launch.

Ultimately may end up in another head that's closer to 215-218g. Probably explains why this M1 is a rocket ship, but I often push or hit big cuts. Impossible to draw unless hit off the toe.

No, the fairway movable weights never really got much attention from the aftermarket suppliers.
But you can probably remove the existing movable weight and grind it down (or maybe drill it) to reduce the weight.
