@DavePelz4you're much more patient than me. No chance I make the turn after a 3 hour 9. That day hurt just reading about it.

What we should have done to make the second 9 better would have been to play the front again as you could see walking up 9 that there was no one on the first 3 holes.  Definitely would have been much faster.

Anyone know of any scrambles next weekend?

There is a big cup scramble at Ravisloe that me and a few buddies are playing in next weekend. I believe Cog Hill and Silver Lake are both having their annual turkey shoot scrambles as well.

Speaking of Silver Lake, I got out to the South Course this past week. Place is in solid fall condition. Nothing to rave about and nothing to complain about just solid condition. 78 with no birdies 🙁

I gave up, never seen anything like this.  Zero times available during working hours.  Forget about even trying the weekend, just about booked up until darkness!  I was planning on heading out one more time but I am going to call it a year...it has been a fun one as always.  Excellent golf weather this year.

If you don't mind the drive Metamora Fields has times Saturday morning. I think it was $40. Great price. Trying to decide if it is worth adding that 2 hour drive Saturday to my weekend since I am already making a long drive to Notre Dame Sunday.

Do it. Back-to-back 70s on a weekend in November, pretty rare.

I played a round at Chalet Hills today. With the weather I was worried the course would be jammed but I didn’t stop once and played in under 3 hours. The greens still had punch marks but were rolling pretty smoothly. The first 7 holes - the flood plain holes - were actually quite dry and the rest of the course was playing very firm. Considering it’s November the ball was carrying nicely. I thought about playing Blackstone since I haven’t gotten there all year but CH’s $25 walking rate was too good to pass up. 50 rounds in for 2020. 74.

... LOL as a born in warmer weather transplanted Southerner that has been here since '78 it was still a little chilly for shorts today. Almost everyone I saw had on golf pants or even jeans, although 2 groups behind me were some obvious locals born and raised "over by dere" wearing shorts and golf shirts with no hats, wind shirts or sweaters. I have tee times for the next 4 days at Naperbrook, Prairie Bluff and Fox Bend. Not gonna be in shorts. 🤪

Seems there is barely a single tee time most places before 2-3pm... with how packed the courses are it's unlikely you'd be able to finish a round teeing off at 2pm. I foresee lots of 5 hour + rounds Saturday if you're not in the first morning wave. Monday looks really nice, so will likely just try to get out first thing Monday morning.

What unbelievable weather we are having. Cant let it go to waste. Played Ridge Country Club yesterday for the first time and while it was just shy of 6300 from the tips I really enjoyed playing here. Course is very tight and there are a lot of well placed bunkers to help protect from being a shorter course. Course was in pristine shape from tee to green honestly one of the best kept courses I've played this year. Leaves were a problem on a couple holes but not much you can do about that this time of year. 77 with 2 birdies.

Ravisloe tomorrow for a scramble and then Mistwood to close out the nice weather on Monday. May try to sneak out Tuesday somewhere as well if the forecast stays the way it is. Enjoy the weather everyone for which I'm sure will be a very busy weekend for golf in the Chicagoland area.

a great morning at SV with the guys. perfect weather, bit of a breeze.

the greens were running a tad slower but some pins were set in diabolical spots.

one stellar approach at 15 rolled out to the hole only to be deflected by an uncooperative cup liner.

next week - same time, same place, same guys, warmer jacket.

Played yesterday at Fox Bend. Great day of bonus golf.  Fox Bend has made some interesting changes. The pro has been remodeled but more importantly, they have permanently swapped the 9's and changed the scorecards.  They found that by swapping the 9's, they could add 3 additional tee times by saving the walk between the old 9/10 along with a stop that usually took place at the snack shack.

Paired with a very nice father and son. The son kept thinking his ball went about 50 yards further than it really did but they were good guys to play with.

... I was right in front or behind you and it has been awhile since I played there but I didn't remember the greens having so much slope. With the greens slow and aerated it was extremely difficult for me to get a feel for speed. Up hill was not too much of a problem but down/side hill was rough. Had a putt on 8 from 7 feet past the hole and with the wind and silly pin placement I just missed on the high side with the ball barely moving but the slope carried it 7 feet past and missed the putt coming back bouncing around and missing the hole completely. Back up the slope was crazy slow. By the back 9 I was acclimated much better than the start of the round and had 3 birdies as the wind died down, although one was a putt from just off the green and lucky. Probably won't play there again as for me at least it isn't worth the drive. I'd much rather play Heritage Bluff or WhiteTail Ridge if I am driving that far. But I am with you, all things considered it was a fun day of bonus golf.

Played at Blackstone on Friday afternoon. Started at 1:55 in a foursome with friends and we somehow finished at 5:10. We played the last hole in nearly complete darkness, but finished. I love growing the game, but when you can't find a tee time in Chicago 4 days in advance, the game has grown too much. Kidding, and I'm happy golf courses had a great year. I'm hoping the indoor places like Legends Indoor Golf stay open. Will probably play once a month just to keep the blood flowing.

I played the Warren Course at ND this morning and really enjoyed it. Every must have partied too hard last night because we tee'd off at 11:30 as a twosome and play relatively quick. Definitely worth the drive down, the course was in great shape. I thought it was a really good challenge. Greens were on the smaller side with some movement, fairways were narrow and the rough was pretty penal. Just a perfect day though. Can't complain about a little sunburn in November.

We teed off at 9:50. FB has always been a "below the hole" type of course.  On the new 12, I had an 8 foot birdie putt, a 30 foot par putt and a 4 foot bogey putt. Made the stupid mistake of trying to make the birdie and started the putt about 2 feet above the hole.  It caught the slope and literally ran off the green picking up speed along the way. The only person in the group who didn't 3 putt the hole was below and left of the hole. After watching our putting travesty, he was happy to walk away with a 2 putt.

... We teed off at 12:40. Yea, 12 was brutal. I played with a guy that works there and I hit the front and of course it rolled back about 8 feet off the green. I chipped up to about 1 feet as he stood there and he quickly marked my ball as soon as it stopped. He said if he didn't there was a good chance it would roll back off the green LOL. They were all above the hole and after they all rolled off the green they just picked up and went to 13.

My brother and I had a great time at Highland Woods this morning.

The greens were running fast and had completely healed post aeration, but the cups were cut on some tough slopes!

The greens were in great shape, and with a  good number of unrepaired ballmarks,

I have changed my attitude from being disgusted to seeing it as an opportunity to improve the greens for the groups behind me (I hope my playing partners will repair more than their ballmarks (yours plus one more, please).  I stay mindful of not repairing so many marks that pace of play is affected.

Anyway, thought I'd share and hope that groups might consider repairing marks on greens for those behind them.

played at 8 am and the clouds kept things cool and we were done by 12 (great day and a beautiful walk).

... I have been seeing this more this year than anytime I can remember. Naperbrook being the worst with lots of pins placed on side slopes and the 2 holes with tiers have had the pin cut right at the edge so any putt rolling past the hole a few inches will slide down the slope. This is a typical muni with lots of high index players and it just slows down play. For better players, hitting an approach shot 7 feet from the hole and having to guard against bogie is just ridiculous. Several times I have had to ignore the line to make the putt and chose a line 2-3 feet below the hole with a 7 foot birdie putt  because running up the slope and hoping the ball finds the hole would leave a 6-7 foot par putt. Just moving the hole 3 feet changes that completely. I just don't understand why this is a thing in 2020.

Was 18 one of the holes with the brutal pin?  I can see that in winter when they're trying to protect the green but for as wonderful of weather as we've had, it makes no sense as you stated whatsoever.

... Yup, 18 has been up front or back right literally on the sides of those slopes when of course moving it 2-3 feet would be a flat area effected by slope but playable, as it should be. I was pin high just to the right of the green in 2, which is rare for me but 20mph wind aided and killed my chip into the fringe and it tricked over the edge and still ran 8 feet past. For someone that can't normally reach in 2 and being 12 feet from the hole with no chance of stopping the ball is just silly. The worst though has been 17 where they insist on putting it either high on that one big slope or near the bottom but still on the slope. If you are on the other side you have no chance and even worse a good shot to the dead center of the green is either going to hit the hole or roll anywhere from 6 - 15 feet depending on high or low pin placement. 15 is hard enough without putting a pin right on that slope too. That green is HUGE so no need to put a pin there. Same for #8.
