I know of at least one really nice course that said they would let me play on Friday. Should I do it or not risk it?

White Hawk is decent, and worth a visit. Scherwood? Not so much.

Looks like all the tee times @ Palmira for today and tomorrow are all booked up unless you want to tee of at 4:45 or 5 p.m.

With no golf in our immediate future in IL, my commute home has changed to taking back roads just to go past a golf course or two and dream. Lo and behold on Tuesday night, there were people playing on both Bolingbrook and Tamarack. Just not cool for so many reasons.

I saw someone walking on Seven Bridges last night. They also mowed this morning, course and fairways are looking so good. I guess it is good they are keeping it up but part of me wishes I didn't have to look at a beautifully mowed golf course that I couldn't touch for weeks/months.

Crossing state lines to golf isn't legal every where. Probably not an issue going into Indiana for you guys, but it may be at some point. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't considered driving to Indiana this week, but it kind of defeats the purpose. I can't be mad at all the spring breakers that went to Florida while I canceled my trip, yet go and do something like that.

I am attending a wedding in the summer at Geneva National. I have never been there, if the wedding actually happens my wife and I are going to golf while there. I saw there are 3 courses, has anyone gone up there and played them and have an opinion or suggestion of the best course?

... When I was in Phoenix last winter I rented a house on a goat track that I played once. But late at night I would go out and hit some balls on the one hole out my back door. A friend of mine lives on Carriage Greens and has done the same thing the last week. A cop pulled up when he was chipping to the green and I guess seeing he had no bag of clubs, just waived and drove away. But actually playing a course is a different story.

Would probably go Trevino, Player and Palmer in order but truthfully, they're all pretty good.

Played them all numerous times each summer because I completely love it up there. You'll enjoy any one of the courses you get to play but if it helps from hardest to easiest imo is Player, Palmer, Trevino.

I heard that Lake Bluff is not open, but “open” with a sign on the door that says play at your own risk. Several people from work have played there all week.

I do know that others were issued trespassing tickets at GCI in Algonquin and heard the same about Pine Meadow.

To argue the other side for a moment, I think it's fine for a course to allow people to play during this time. They're encouraging social distancing way more than our supermarkets. Of course I understand that buying food is a necessity while golfing is not, but I feel much safer on a course than I do at Whole Foods regarding COVID-19.

Headed down to Indiana this Friday to play Scherwood. Drive wasn't bad as the traffic through Chicago is a breeze. We teed off just before 9. Greens were freshly mowed. Conditions were decent. Interesting little course. We were paired up with a twosome from Chicago. Cups were set up a couple inches. Flags stayed in their holes. No rakes. Walking only. Lots of social distancing as it was a beautiful day for a walk. When we got there, only about 10 cars in the parking lot. When we left around 1, it was jam packed... Illinois plates as far as the eye could see. Guy said they did 330 rounds yesterday!! ? I don't know if they'll keep the courses open moving forward... But I hope so. Good revenue for those places and gets me to play a new place or two. I'd like to try Palmira next weekend.

They were fine. Fairways were maybe a little tight, but nothing too bad. Good enough for an April round for sure.

For those who have played Palmira, or any other NW Indiana course, can you comment on how well the other golfers adhered to the social distancing concept?

All was good when I played Scherwood. I have a little bottle of sanitizer I bring with as well just to have with.

No one was picking up anyone elses clubs or ball. We kept space while walking. No handshakes or first bumps. Everyone was really respectful. It was a really great day on the course.
