Good start, but with the 15 minute intervals, they should allow foursomes. In the meantime, another round at Palmira next weekend. Oh, we also played White Hawk last Saturday... cups are actually raised - chipped “in” on first from off the green (saved par) and “made” a bomb on 18 from 50+ feet for a closing birdie. Thug Life!

I think a lot of courses are opening up tee times for next weekend starting tomorrow. I spoke with one course on the phone today that was struggling with the new rules in regard to how their online tee time system was set up. So basically, they had to go in and reprogram everything to allow the proper spacing, twosomes, etc. Anyone know of any courses releasing tee times tomorrow? I know Silver Lake in Orland Park is...

I've been looking for tee times for the first Monday in May, and nothing is coming up. Hopefully they'll sort it out this week. I wonder if anyone will be in the pro shops this week to take tee times over the phone.

Village Links tee times will be available from Tuesday 9am. Looks like Prairie Bluff tee times are already up.

I think a lot of courses put their full tee sheet up immediately and are now suffering the consequences. Seven Bridges being one of them. They had tee times booked for foursomes at regular intervals. I am assuming they pulled everything off the site and will be making some cancelation and explanation phone calls this week.

 

Dupage golf (Preserve @ Oak Meadows) will be opening up their tee times Wednesday morning.

Ravisloe just put up tee times on GolfNow, but they’re allowing 4somes, so I’m assuming something will change.

... The ONLY thing good about being over 65 is getting Senior Rates at golf courses. None of the tee times have senior rates so far and I sure hope that changes Monday. Prairie Bluff is $26 after 12 noon for seniors but right now all tee times are full price.

I played in Wisconsin today. Prepay, cant go in the clubhouse, and I played in a foursome. Pace of play was really quick and if keep your distance and there’s no way to catch covid-19 from another player. That was the good. The bad was that it was my first round of the year and I was terrible. It’s tough with no range and no practice putting green. Very rusty. I also hadn’t walked in 15 year and the Highlands at Grand Geneva kicked my butt. But I got to play and it was a beautiful spring day.

$74 for Highlands of Elgin on Saturday afternoon with no cart. Ouch. Wasn’t it in the $50-60 range last year?

4 hour front nine at Prairie Woods today. I prepaid for 18, but couldn't last. Should've brought a lawn chair, maybe my back and feet could've finished then.

 

On a side note, it was a really neat little course that deserves a repeat play once this craziness has passed.

Got on at Brighton Dale Blue this morning. Place was packed. I've never seen the parking lot that full. A good mix of Wisconsin and Illinois plates.

Red, white and blue all had essentially filled tee sheets until 4 pm. Pace of play was pretty solid...4 hours walking. No real waiting. Conditions were good. Greens rolled well. Only complaint was that they had no flags on the greens. They had raised cups... But I couldn't see where to aim on a bunch of approach shots.

Anyone have a suggestion for a local store that has pull carts available for pick up? I have tried PGA Tour SS, Dicks, Golf Galaxy and all carts are not currently stocked.

Pull carts are the hand sanitizer of the golf world. I sold mine last year for $50 and feel like such an idiot. An acquaintance who is a director level at Golf Galaxy/Dicks told me they won't see a restock push carts in the foreseeable future. I'd check craigslist/offer up sites like that.

Shriner - I was going to say eBay but the prices out there are nuts. I'm seeing preowned Clicgear 3.5 models going for $280+. Maybe reach out to a smaller shop, like Discount Dans or Carl's, and see if they have one they could ship or order for you.

Seen a few comments thus far on pricing matters. As much as it stinks, I think we'll have to deal with higher prices for the near future, or at least not the discounts. With the mandates from the state, courses just lost half their capacity with the 2 people per group, and less groups per day with 15 minute times instead of the average of 10. On top of that they lost a major revenue generator in carts and food sales. They can't just charge business as usual prices when most of their maintenance costs remain the same, but with less than 50% of the normal revenue coming in.

They are notoriously slow.....I've had to quit after nine there before due to playing one hole, #10, in 30 mins, after the turn, and multiple groups on the box on #11. It is a fun little short track, and I'd typically try and get there at least once a year, but will only go back there if everything else is booked up around it.

Just walked Barn Hollow (Hawk's View par 3 course) and got all 18 in before the rains started. That was a great little relaxing walk after my death march yesterday. Play much better, 11 greens and three par saves. I had a couple doubles when the wind placed my ball into ponds.

Not bad for a very windy day. +6/60

I’ve got an extra ClicGear 3.5 with no brakes. Well, sometimes the brake works but not enough that I didn’t easily justify getting a new one. Anyway, DM me if you’re interested and want to pick it up. I’d rather not deal with the shipping costs of something that weighs that much but some of you could use a cart. Just park it sideways on hills.

I bought a new brake set, threaded it through, followed every step, and it only works about 20% of the time. I think a new wheel would probably have it working pretty close to like new though.

I got an email that the Highlands of Elgin cancelled my tee time on Saturday. They didn’t say they overbooked, but that the course is closed due to Covid-19 concerns until further notice. Any idea what’s going on?

Interesting. I received one from them today saying tee times could be booked starting Wednesday to the general public. I wonder if they kicked you out for a member. Not sure about the closed part.

Wouldn’t surprise me if Highlands doesn’t want to pay Golf Now fees, so they canceled my tee time. The course doesn’t seem to be closed on Saturday.

The PGA Pro from the Highlands emailed me after I sent an email inquiring about my canceled tee time. There was a computer issue where Golf Now allowed bookings to occur that shouldn't have happened. The pro explained the situation, apologized for Golf Now's email, and told me he'd try to get me on. He also said Golf Now's pricing was way too high. That was really good service on the pro's part. Things happen, these are crazy times, and Jim sorted it all out for me.
