Tourstriker Planemate

Recommended Posts

I’ve had mine for a couple of weeks and am through both sets of protocols. This seems like it was custom made for the swing flaws that have plagued me for my entire golfing career and I’m already seeing significant improvement in my swing and in my ball striking

Yesterday was the first time I tried making full swings with the long green band attached. The first few were not pretty and clearly showed I was still stalling out and flipping (even if it’s less than I was before). After working for a while I was getting better full swing results with the band, but not hitting the correct positions / feels nearly as well as I was in executing the protocols.

Any thoughts on how to transition most effectively from the protocol drills to full swings with and without the band?

Any links to the Jake Hutts stuff that compliments planemate?

Ordered mine and figure i have another week to go. Hope it helps my early extension and therefore too shallow plane. I hear everybody saying it fixes them from being too steep i need to become more steep. Hitting blocks now expecially with driver and 3 wood. My son has one and i took a crash course with his so looking forward to going through the protocol they recommend.

Quick question, I've had the planemate for a while, used it sporadically, but went back and watched the protocols last night. I'm struggling with the downswing. During the "delivery position" protocol, they talk about how you don't want the band to go completely limp/loose. I can't do this!! Does this mean I'm not maintaining my width?

Video of your own swing and finding that feel that works for you for a back swing move and a downswing move. Again, Planemate is a good tool but, only practice will take care of it. GBOX, though I haven't had the pleasure of using one yet, I could see helping with the shallowing which would in turn get rid of EE. Fact.

Sort of confused on the Day 3 Protocol instruction and looking for some help. This is the instruction that seems like there is some manipulation of the club, or that is what it looks like to me. Can someone please verify my understanding of this move. It seems like there is a wrist set of some kind of roll to loosen the tension. Am I correct? Also, if I don't do this move further in back swing am I actually achieving a shallower swing or do I have to complete this wrist movement to complete the shallow. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

I will second this. I liked it at first but wasn't sure it would transfer too well to the course other than the wedge setup for pitching. I have been using it in my net at my house for several months now and I am striking the ball quite well.with my irons. It is a great tool and seems to work quite well. Stick with it is great advice

After training full swings with the planemate on the launch monitor almost every day I have now reached two mile stones. For the first time ever in my life I have hit a 175 yards 7 iron a few times today (and straight). Previously I could hit the same club about 160 yards if I pured it but usually about 155. The second mile stone is that my path is now mostly neutral. Previously I was too much in to out leading to a lot of over draws.

My regime is now hitting about 30 to 40 7 irons with the PM long green band and then about the same number without the PM. The main focus is maintaining width and keeping a clear bend (cup) in the trail wrist through impact. This training aid is for sure a keeper. I hope that one day I can hit the driver just as well with this swing.

I don't really use the short band. I feel confident that my pitching motion was already good enough. My issue was that I could not translate that good pitching motion into my full swing because some how in the longer swing I became "sloppy". Training with the PM in full swings teaches me the same good structure that I have with my pitching swing: firmer wrists and better arm structure and extension.

They use the short band also for the driver but so far I have not had success with it. My plan is to continue with the irons and try the driver later when the irons are fully ingrained.

I'm a beginner golfer.. have played a few times before with mates socially over the years, but last month decided to give it a real crack because it was simply one of the only recreational things you could do due to Covid-19.

I had four 30 minute lessons over 4 weeks with a pro and I whilst I thought I was comprehending most of what he was saying, I was having trouble getting my body to follow suit. I'd also leave the each lesson doing one thing and by the time I'd get to the next lesson, my swing had evolved into something entirely different. It was so frustrating because he'd have to break down everything again and felt like I was wasting my money (even though the lessons were relatively cheap due to a Covid special).

Anyways, last week I was drunk and through sheer frustration of feeling like I hadn't made any progress, ended up dropping some cash on the Planemate. Now I've only done the 7 day Protocols so far so it's early days, but something has finally clicked. My body is getting in the positions its supposed to and I've grasped the concepts of shallowing (thought I was dong this correctly but I wasn't) and rotating through the swing. Everything the pro was saying now makes complete sense.

Obviously it's still early days and I've got a hell of a long way to go, but I think the Planemate might be exactly what I needed. I learn best through repetition and this is exactly what the Planemate accommodates. Looking forward to see how I progress over the next few months.
