Just pre-ordered 2 sm8s through wedgeworks (wanted some customization). I got the 56.08 (m grind) and 60.04 ( L grind). Cant wait!

custom ordered a 52.12f in the black finish and 56.14f in the chrome. Not sure what grind I want for my 60 so holding off on that club for the moment, hoping the low bounce k grind becomes available, if not may look at other wide sole low bounce lob wedges available on the market.

Yes there is with mine too. Its the first thing I noticed when I looked at them. I thought maybe it made the heads look slightly bigger but probably just me. This is coming from the sm6’s.

Looks great! How’d you remove the finish? Assuming these will rust?

CLR bath for a couple hours then 1000 grit sand paper to give it that brushed looking “finish”. They looked bad as soon as they came out of the CLR.

As far as the rusting goes... in past experience they won’t rust like a raw Vokey will. Raw meaning the $200 versions.

Dew and fertilizer from early morning play will give the most uniform rust.

I was hoping to have them rust before the season starts. Still a few weeks away from playing up north

Then get a bucket with Luke warm weather and throw some salt in there!

Hydrogen peroxide and water mixture will rust them in a couple of minutes.

There is no difference in my opinion. The ONLY difference is looks and different grinds. I have hit both and they both perform. If anything, I believe the SM7s sound a little better. Just my .02.

I was happy the SM8s came out, so I could get a great deal on some new sm7 slate blues.

That's good to hear. I have about $450 in credit. I was going to get 2 raw SM8's, but if there's not much of a difference, I could get a 50, 54, 60 and get an extra 60 in a different grind for close to the same price.

Seen them in the metal. I asked the store assistant what the difference was from the SM7. £20 he replied. Apart from cosmetics not sure what the fuss is about.

I have done the fitting but have not got my order yet :( They are not available until March 6th in Thailand.

Said I would not do it and then I went and did it. Went for a gapping session yesterday with my fitter and ended up ordering 3 raw sm8’s. The sole grinds just work for me so much better. The great thing about his service is he has heads and will just put them on my current shafts along a little custom grind. My distance control on 100, 75 and 50 yard pitch shots were night and day different.

anyone knows how long do custom wedges from wedgeworks take to ship once ordered? 2 weeks? or more? Waiting for 2 Custom SM8s, ordered last week

I preordered mine mid February. Called yesterday and they went into production Monday. They said 10 business days from that point.

just curious I currently game Cleveland RTX 4s 50 56 60. I just switched to Titleist CBs and the PW is 47 degrees. I am considering making the switch the SM8s but would like to get some input from others about their experience. I used to play SM6s before switching over to the RTX 4. Would you stick the the gapping I have currently or change it up for the SM8s to even the gaps? Thanks everyone!

I got to try these yesterday. I have been super excited to try them. I picked them up set it on the ground, and the first thing that caught my eye was they seem to have more offset then the sm7s. The longer hosel is not noticeable to me. Below is a picture of the SM8 (left) and sm7 (right). Both are 60 degree D grinds.

I figured it’s not too big of a deal. If it’s an issue, you can just get stronger lofts and bend the hosel to remove the offset.

I did a head to head test of the wedges using prov1x balls and got the below. 10 shots with each. The sm7 is on top. The SM8 both flew high and with less spin thus flew a little further. Little different from the marketing story. I think the SM8 feel a little better but really it is a small difference. The SM8s are good wedges but I was kinda let down and not super impressed. I will probably pass on these.
