... Following up on my Black to Raw SM8 M Grind I left outside in the rain over night and then took a new Scotch Brite pad to it and it turned out just like my SM7 D Grind. All the sparkle is gone:

Tso others showed up today.

I guess it has to do with the customization. I ordered three raw with projext x shafts bit no stamping, and two with stamping. The two with stamping are the ones that arent here, ao it has to be the level of customization

Got the bad news from Vokey yesterday. They’re shutting down the shop with the rest of California, so who knows they I’ll get them. Placed an order on 3/1 for three raw WW’s, handground with stamping.

But since pretty much all golf courses are closed here in NY and NJ, I guess I don’t really need them ?‍♂️

Ordered a 52.12F and 58.08M Raw from wedgeworks with custom stamping and PX shafts on March 5th. Came in and picked up yesterday...was a little surprised by how quick it was and sounds like they got out just in time before the shut down!

Yeah, I played Pound Ridge in NY yesterday. No carts period, bar/restaurant/pro shop closed with one guy to take credit card payments. Advised not to touch flagsticks and rakes, and the cups were raised above the hole so you didn’t have to reach in to pull your ball out. By time we finished our round, Cuomo shut down all of the courses in NY, and Murphy is expected to announce the same in NJ today/tomorrow.

I wanted to order a raw F but since the shutdown choose to grab a new SM7 Tour Chrome F grind head on the cheap. Bought a Steelfiber wedge shaft to finish it. It’s amazing WedgeWorks charges $80 beans for a Aerotech upgrade so not too disappointed. Saved some lunch money! BB

Is there a big difference between a low bounce K grind (6*) and the standard M grind (8*) on a lob wedge?

I am still waiting on mine ordered a couple weeks ago. I had to order through wedgeworks even though I am not getting anything customized because I am a lefty and the only finish they offer outside wedgeworks is the brushed or chrome. In canada you order through a rep, so I used my club and the guy who ordered them said it was still saying being built; he assumed would be a few more weeks at least.

Sadly it doesn't matter because it snowed in Toronto yesterday so I am not playing golf and my planned travel is also cancelled so...

easiest way would be soaking in white vinegar for an hour or so at least then scrub in a uniform pattern with a green scotch-brite pad.

I actually did the white vinegar and then put the scotch brite pad on a small palm sander.

correct. or if you want the actual real RAW - order the RAW option from WW but that's a premium price for it. this is the poor mans way of making it RAW.

I ended up getting the 50 8F, 56 10S, and 60 10S in tour chrome. I was just curious for the 60 10S since I live in the desert and our courses and traps are slight to moderately firm was that a good choice of grind and bounce for my 60? I originally was going to go 60 8M but I was recommended to go 10S. I still have the ability to exchange it if necessary but I just wanted to get your guys opinion on the matter. Thanks very much!

... My first winter in Phoenix I took my 58* D Grind with me and it was basically useless in those "bunkers" which was really just hardpan. Would not be too bad with a low lip but plenty of deep bunkers with a light dusting of sand or none at all. I picked up a 58* M Grind and it worked a lot better. I think the trailing sole relief is much more effective than the 2* of loft when playing those very tight lies around the green as well as in those bunkers that had a little more sand and allowed me to open the face a touch. Correct me if I'm wrong... I remember the ES shape to have the concave "worn" area on the sole; I think Ping called it a "sand pocket" as the design resembles what an old worn wedge looks like after years of bunker play. While Vokey doesn't have a design similar to a "sand pocket", I definitely look into the F grind for 56º and the K grind for the 60º. These options offer the most amount of bounce for both lofts and would be the most forgiving for turf interaction.

When given the opportunity, if possible, most golf courses do have demo wedges. Most certainly go this route to see if these recommendations would actually work for you.

  • 2 weeks later...

I ordered my custom set on feb 27 and I called them a week before the shutdown and they said in 3 days they were to be shipped out to me...................and boom, lockdown. Now i will probably "Never" receive them. Never probably means around june, which sucks. Just a 3 day diff and my babies would be with me right now. : (

Can't decide on which 58 degree wedge grind to order. Last two 58 deg wedges I used were the D grind and K grind. Definitely thought the D grind was better overall for me from a variety of shots but didn't like the K grind for anything other than soft bunkers. My 58 deg I generally only use inside of about 60 yards and my main bunker club. Sometimes chipping if I'm short sided or have to go up a steep hill. Chipping and pitching I prefer my 50 and 54 deg wedges. My new wedges will be 50.12 F and 54.14 F so having a hard time deciding between going with the D grind again since the bounce is 12 and I wouldn't have much of a variety in bounces. Considering the M grind since it's the same as D but lower bounce of 8 to give me a bit more versatility but afraid of it digging. I'm taller and generally a bit more steep with my swing but I don't take really big divots. Have considered maybe the S grind since it's 10 bounce but this doesn't seem like it would be very good out of the bunker or trying to open the face up sometimes. I play a variety of courses with firm and soft sand. Fairways can be hard pan and other days really wet and soft. Any input would be helpful from what others use between M, D, and S grinds.
