Vokey SM8

Yeah, if its a rush, check on timing of any specialty components. I originally order onyx s400s and they were back ordered from April to mid-August. Long story short, I changed to the non-Onyx version and got them this week. Some very random quick thoughts. I do notice a bit more of a kink/offset in the neck compared to the SM7s. This is something I always notice in Cleveland wedges. But that said, they look amazing in jet black and FEEL amazing. I think better than the SM7s. This was based on a quick range session and I definitely need more time with them.

I never thought I would find a wedge as good as the SM7. But I was thrilled when the SM8s came out with the 54 in the D grind and so I made the switch and now have 54-D and 58-M. I'm not carrying a gap wedge at the moment.

It took some adjusting, but I am absolutely killing it with these wedges lately. The feel and control on chips shots is very nice. Solid. On pitch shots and full shots, however, the SM8 is the best I've ever played. They are so stable with the most pure feedback. It's not that buttery feeling you get from a forged head, but more of solid, heavy thud with a sense of total control. The ball is going to go exactly where you aim it. I guess the best way to put it is that it looks like a blade but the feel through impact is like ultra-MOI.

How do you guys find the wear on the finishes? I know the black will scratch up but what bout the brushed steel?

I have black RTX-4 wedges that look quite bad after 20 rounds so hoping to avoid a repeat with my next purchase.

The performance benefit from the tech in the SM8's is most evident in the 58* lofts and above.

Pay the extra for the matching SM8 wedges... this way you don't pay $91 then have to try to sell it used, recouping some cash and THEN getting the SM8 58* (which then you'd be kicking yourself for not getting the SM8 in the first place).

Trust me, I see this all the time!!!

More pics of the T please? I had a T on order - cancelled it - went with a low bounce K - now cancelled it and am considering going with a T. Help.

Pics and any additional options (and review once you've formed opinions) would be great! Thank you!

Specifically to the T, I’m coming from a 60L. Even that club wanted to bounce in firm sand or any firm lie when laid open. The T doesn’t, and it’s pretty baked out here right now. I love it, and it’s exactly what I wanted it to be. If I was going to say anything negative about it, and I’ve seen it in the advertising for the T so it wasn’t a surprise, you have to be pretty precise on square faced pitches and chips. I haven’t figured out how to ride the bounce and give myself a bigger margin for error yet. Oh, and mine is completely stock with a DG S300.

Thanks for this! I'm now considering one of these again as they're just so darn puuurty. Trying to decide if I want to go 58 standard, 58 bent to 60 to give it a little more bounce for full shots, or 60 and just commit to it.

Ahhh decisions...

My time with the sm8 was short lived. Going back to the hi toe and mg2 combo. TaylorMade just feels better. They have an actual 10 degree option with a better grind than the S in sm8.

Here are pics of a regular K grind with trailing edge and heel relief I just got delivered today.

How are you getting on with this K Grind?

I play a K grind in both 54 and 58 but am wanting to trim a bit of bounce off with a new 58 so I have a lower bounce option in 58, and a higher bounce option in 54.

I'm thinking the low bounce K is too low bounce at 6*, so wondering if the standard K with trailing edge relief is the way to go. I also like he idea of more heel relief to help through sand. I play with the square face/low handle technique in the sand.

If you could provide some feedback on how you're finding this wedge, that'd be great - particularly if you're able to compare to a standard k grind.

I ordered mine around 10 days ago and can’t wait for it to get here. Is the wedge still performing the way you hoped a month later?

That grind looks absolutely sick.  I have the L and I'm pretty happy with it, but I'd like to try the T to see what it's like.  Looks ridiculously versatile

For those with the Brushed Steel finish, any issues with finish wear or glare? Thinking of getting 54/S and 58/D grinds.

Thanks for your input!

Just picked up the Jet Black in those grinds. I always played the S grind but based on my playing conditions decided to give the D a try. Can't wait to try them out.
