Just got an email from Vokey WedgeWorks. ProjectX shafts are causing additional delays, so they upgraded me to 2-day shipping for free. Waiting on a Raw 56-12D

Man, I guess that 4-6 week timeframe is probably right then.

I ordered mine stock knowing I could stamp it, change the shaft and bend it however I wanted hoping to speed it up getting here!

I think if you order project x lz shafts you should be fine, as it's stock in t100s... but standard project x you will be waiting

The honeymoon with my current T-20 wedges is OVER, and it's time for some Vokeys. Previous set of irons I loved was the RTX4, not a fan of the Zipcore aesthetic and Vokeys appear to be the most similar in shaping.

Currently have a 51* set GW with the 921 Tours, so not sure whether I should go 54-58, 56-60 or 54-60. Thoughts?

I'd be keen to see photos from people gaming the Black wedges and how they wear.

My RTX4 black wedges wore quite poorly, not sure how the finish on the Vokey compares..? I do love a black wedge though.

Any pics would be greatly appreciated.

I'm never one to complain about offset in clubs since I don't mind a little but I just got my 50.12 F grind Vokey in weeks after they messed up my order and there is a significantly more offset compared to my SM7 50.12 F. I have them both ordered 1 deg strong so that adds a little bit but it's hardly noticeable in my SM7 to me and really noticeable in my SM8. Wonder if it's just the new vs worn off finish looking different but I just see way more bend in the SM8 hosel. Going to take in all of my wedges to get spec'd out to see what they measure. Did anyone else notice more offset in an SM8 vs SM7? My 54 and 58 deg were standard but look fine to me it's just the 50 deg.

I noticed the same offset difference in my 54° when I got my SM8 and compared them to my old SM7.

The hosel is a touch longer so maybe contributes to the look change but I got it measured at CC and turns out it was bent 2 deg strong so that was the difference. They bent it back to 1 deg deg and it looks normal to me now. All is good!

I was going to say that does not look right.  My sm8 50 looks very similar to the SM7 you showed.  Prob one of the best shaped gap wedges I have seen from an OEM in a long time.

So I had ordered a custom set of 50, 54, and 58 deg SM8s several months ago through X who put the order in through Titleist. Titleist initially sent me the 54 and 58 deg only and my order was correct for these but I had to call X to see where the 50 deg was. They said the heads were back ordered from Titleist so would be several more weeks. The wedge came weeks later with a reg TI DG S400 instead of black onyx that I ordered like the 54 and 58. Emailed X back and about two weeks later didn't hear anything and they said they'd check into it. X told me it would be quicker if I sent my wedge back so they could reshaft and we don't have to wait for a back ordered head. They provided me a return label so I shipped it back and the next week I received the correct 50 deg with black onyx. This was probably two weeks ago but today on my front door was a Titleist box with the 50 deg with reg TI S400 wedge in it. Return slip said the order was correct and no return number provided so return back to account shipped. Wondering if I just got a free wedge? I tried sending it back but they apparently didn't want it...

really? I have a 52* and 58*, I like the new wedges, but still use my SM7’s. I think the pw and gw SM7’s are quite nice. Id say the pw is a 9/10 and the gap is an 8.5/10? Just don’t feel the same about the sm8’s

I've read a ton in this thread and haven't seen anything that resembles my recent experience (or perception) with the SM8.  Therefore, it may just all be in my head.  However, the SM8 just feels like more weight and girth than my SM7.

I was gifted a SM7 54* M grind a few months ago.  One of the things that I really like about it is that I now have more confidence around the green particular from thin lies which used to scare me.  I used to have a smart sole 2.0 which has a lot of bounce.

The SM8 58* S Grind that I just purchased has a noticeable difference in feel from the SM7.  The SM8 just feels like it has a bigger face and heavier overall.  Hitting some shots yesterday around the green, the SM8 just feels like I've got more club in my hands which I don't like as much.  However, hitting full shots from 75-80 yards out, I might actually prefer the feel of the SM8 over the SM7, but just not close around the green.  I was not expecting this.  I don't really want two wedges that play (feel) this different.

Any thoughts on this?

A 58s is going to feel quite a bit different than the (m) in terms of turf interaction.  It s far more common to have the (s) in a lower lofted club and the (m) in a higher lifted club.

simply based on the versatility of the (m) I bet you can hit almost any short game shot the (s) can even with 4 degrees less loft.  The (s) is built for fuller swing shots, so it makes sense that feels more comfortable.

Thanks for the reply.  Yeah, I understand that it's going to have somewhat of a different feel in terms of turf interaction because of the change in bounce.  However, what I'm talking about is just the swing of the club.  The SM8 feels noticeably like more club than my SM7.

Since I could swear (based on feel) that the SM8 was heavier, I just weighed them.  Nope... they weigh the same.  I took some pics... not sure if this shows what I'm seeing.  Maybe it's just the shape of the face with the SM8 - it just looks bigger to me than the SM7.  Also, the heavier feel must be the change that they made to the weighting of the SM8 versus the SM7.  Also, maybe more bounce on the SM8 makes it feel slightly chunkier than my SM7 M grind.  I don't know.

In the pictures, the SM8 is the one still with a sticker on the shaft.
