@capking my home track is only par 66 5600 yd’s so the 3 and 4 iron aren’t really ever in play much

how have you got on with the split in them

Anyone playing the HMB 2 iron as a driving iron? I love mine but want to change shafts. Looking for something lighter (graphite, 85-100g) with a mid launch but still low-ish spin. Any recommendations?

Been using a set of MMCs 5-PW, with an HMB 4 as a "3.5" driving iron as it bridges the gap between my 5 and my hybrid. Had this setup as soon as they came out. I went with S400 in the MMC, and X100 in HMB to bring down the spin and ballflight.

After using them for a while, I absolutely love the MMC but I don't love the HMB. The face is very elongated relative to the MMC, the sweet spot feels like it's located differently than the MMC, more toward the toe, so it doesn't feel like it flows into the set naturally; I really have to treat it like a different club but haven't made the adjustment and so I never really hit it flush as often as I flush the 5. It also spins more than I like, even with the stiffer shaft. That being said it's very forgiving and I've hit some horrible feeling shots that turned out great, especially from sketchy spots like sidehill lies and deep rough.

I'm very glad I didn't do a more mixed MMC/HMB set, I don't think it would work for me very well because they are very different. I'll probably sell it at some point and explore either an MMC 4 iron or a different model driving iron altogether.

Finally pulled the trigger and bought a full set of HMB's (3-PW).  I had been playing P-790's and Mizuno MP-H5's.  Going back and forth between the two.  The 790's launch a bit too low for me and the MP-H5's are half a club too short.  The HMB's are the best of both worlds.  Was only able to hit the 7-iron on the fitting cart before buying.  First time out with the full set yesterday, I was extremely impressed.  Great launch, high but penetrating flight.  Very soft feel.  Forgiving on thin and toe strikes.  I have a set of MP-5 forged blades, and these are obviously not as soft as a forged blade, but noticeably better than than my other iron sets.  Love the 3-iron.  Very high launch.  Will keep it in the bag as my club has a very long par 3 and some short par 4's where it will be a great option.  I just hook my hybrid too much.  Overall very happy with these.  Only slight complaint is that I ordered with New Decade MCC grips with no extra wraps.  Same configuration as all my clubs.  Mizuno seems to have stretched the grips when installing.  They are longer down the shaft and thinner than my other iron sets.  I checked with calipers and they seem like they are slightly thin.  Not the end of the world, but I may have to regrip.

I went into my fitting in October expecting JPX 921F and came out with HMB's - tighter dispersion, good spin, and the copper layer does something. They feel better than 921F, and forgiving enough

Just following up -- Got it set up with the Ventus Blue HB 9x. Perfect fit. Stable but with some nice feel. Very consistent. Perfect flight -- straight with a tiny draw. My signature says I have this setup with the 4 HMB. I don't. Yet. But that's my plan.

Congratulations on your new clubs!

Small question: how does the gapping work between the HMB PW and your 50 degree wedge?
I'm also looking at HMBs for next year, and my gap wedge today is 52 degrees. So I need to get something in-between that and the PW.
(Too bad they don't make a UW in the HMB line.)

Any direct comparisons between the HMB and MP18 Fli-Hi 2/3 irons?

I have the MP18 Fli-Hi 3 & 4 irons, I love the 4 iron but just can't get along with the 3 iron no matter what shaft I try in it. Felt abit dead and seemed to launch quite low so the shaft change either raised spin too much despite not raising launch much negating the idea of a driving iron cutting through the wind or I just hit knuckle balls which had no control. Also felt the sole was too wide for play off the deck. I've read abit that the MP20 HMB feels better and has better turf interaction, is this true for the 2/3 irons as well?

Cheers

I thought the 46 PW and 48 T20 were a little close - so I just bent the 48-08 to 50-10 to see what will happen. Haven't hit them again due to a cold front and rain. Should be better in a few days for comparison

I have full set of HMB, can’t help but notice that they fly what seems to be too high (to my eye, I am also a high launch/spin player) and may be losing distance?! Obviously it’s colder outside too so that could come into play. I have thought about getting a set of MMC but wasn’t sure how much difference there would be in forgiveness?!
