You’re going to love them. I got a guy out of Vokeys and into these. They transformed his game. He can control his wedges better and he’s become quite deadly with them.

My son totally stole my 54 WS. I ordered. 54 Eye2 to replace it. However, I had leading edge and heel relief ground into a 58WS. I’ll see what happens.

I rotate between Smithworks wedges and these. It’s a tough call sometimes because they both spin great. The Smithworks spin a bit more, but with practice I’m finding the 3.0s are more consistent.

Played my first round with my Glide 3.0 SS wedge and was a bit frustrated. I came from a Cleveland Wedge with 8 degrees of bounce. The 56 degree glide has 12 degrees and I was hesitant to get this because of that bounce number. So I called customer service and the Ping guy told me don't get caught up in the bounce not number, it's more about design and heal toe relief blah blah blah. Well here I am yesterday blading shots multiple times. Soy question is - will I some how adjust to the difference in the bounce or do we all need to get the proper bounce per our swing and playing type? So frustrating!!

I had some grinding done. I had more heel relief and some leading edge relief put in to take a little bounce away, but still left plenty of it to keep the forgiveness of the wedge. Now it sits flatter, but I still have about 13 degrees of bounce on my WS wedge.

If the older one you have is the Eye 2+ then the sole of the Glide 3.0 ES will be a lot different. It is like the original Eye 2 and the Gorge Eye 2 from a few years ago. I like these personally better than the +.

I think the sole of the Eye 2+ will closer match the 3.0 TS. However, the TS is only available in 58 or 60 degrees, so there is a decent match for the Eye 2+ LW (58) but not the SW (53). I am not 100% since I haven't seen the 3.0s in person but I think head shape of the Eye 2+ is going to be somewhere between the 3.0 TS and ES. The ES looks like it is closer to the original Eye 2 (or XG/Gorge) whereas I assume the TS is like any other "wedge" PING has made in recent times.

I ordered a custom set of 3.0's on 7/22, and they were delivered on 8/14. 'Not too bad considering the "horror" stories of custom orders taking months. The set includes a 52 SS, 56 Eye2, and a 60 SS, all orange dot (2 deg flat) with stock shafts.

I played four rounds with them last week, and they're fantastic. My last set of wedges were black dot Glide 2.0's: 52SS, 56 WS, and 60 WS. The biggest difference right off the bat is that the flatter lie has all but eliminated my left miss. 'No surprise. My i200 irons are orange dot. I should have got custom wedges years ago.

I was a little worried about going with the SS in the 60 over my old WS grind. It's been dry here in the Midwest for weeks, so the SS is working fine at the moment. When things start to get sloppy in the fall I hope the thinner sole doesn't start to dig. I generally play the ball slight back in my stance to hit a lower wedge shot, so it's probably not going to be a major deal.

A few weeks back I purchased an old Eye2+ sand wedge to try the grind. It performed wonderfully out of the sand, but I couldn't quite get used to the rounded leading edge and offset for full/half shots from the fairway. The 3.0 Eye2 is very similar, but so far I seem to be hitting it decently from the fairway. I don't think it's quite as good from the sand as the old Eye2+. 'Could be the old club is not 56 degrees. In any case the club is still performing better than the 56 WS, so it's a keeper at this point.

I can't say the 3.0's feel any different. I like the looks a little better than the 2.0's.

Final update on this thread for me;  I've ended my Glide 3.0 experiment.  Stock they were too light, tried reshafting with DG S400 with nominal help.  Soles were a bit too wide for me.  Switched back to Vokeys.

Any chance you could post a pic or two? I like the WS but have thought about doing exactly what you did. Thanks

I've been experimenting for years with multiple sets of wedges........Vokey's, Mizzy's, Honma's, MD3/4's, TM's, Glide forged and 2.0's.  Picked up a set of Glide 3.0's with the 58 being an Eye 2.  I absolutely love the latter!  I've never been more precise around the green and in the sand.  No issues with full shots either.

I currently have the 3.0 50 ss, 56 ws and am currently looking for a 60. Do I go TS, SS or Eye 2?

The ss is so easy to hit, but the TS is built for tight lies which is what I'm looking for most. It's just that little bit harder to hit.

I'm particularly concerned about tight lies, and maybe firm bunkers. Any thoughts would be really appreciated.

Just picked up the 60 in SS. Didn't really get to try it but did get to try the 56 SS, which felt great (I think it has 2 degrees more bounce than the 60 in the same grind).

I've been searching for a while to replace my 60 SM5 k grind in 11 bounce, which has been difficult. Hoping the 3.0 does the trick.

I have the 2.0 Stealths in 52 ss, 56 ws and 60 TS. And love it. I can use the 56 in fluffier bunker and the 60 if it’s packed. Plus the TS actually has more effective bounce than the 6* it’s stamped with. Never had an issue with it digging even when chipping with a square face. I usually open it up a bit which exposes more of the bounce though.

Need some advice for:

56*= Do I go WS or SS?  I use the 56 mainly square face for bunker play, full shots, most chips around the green and in the rough.  Digger on full swing. (Did not like ES)  Is the WS still playable for chips off the fairway?

60* = SS? Use for chips around green with mainly square face or just slightly open when pin is tight and need some more height, will pick the 60 over 56 if lie is a little tight.

Thoughts?

Based upon my experiences testing many wedges and many wedge grinds I would say for your 56* go with the wide sole.  From what you described it seems that you rarely if ever open the face on a 56*, in that case the extra bounce will only help.  For the 60* I would say to take a look at your delivery into the ball and consider the conditions you are playing in.  I play the TS in my 60* and would consider it pretty forgiving compared to other low bounce wedges, however, it is still a low bounce wedge.  This means that if you are playing in soft conditions and deliver the club into the ball with the leading edge exposed, it will be a struggle.  With all that said, I would guess that the SS 60* would be fine with the only exception in rock hard bunkers if you were so to encounter.

Any Glide players have issues with the bounce on standard soles on neutral to firmer conditions? Playing in the midwest we have a variety of conditions but for the most part, neutral to firm. Currently playing RTX-3s bent to reduce loft and bounce, finding that bounce in the ~9 degree territory for everything except bunkers is fantastic. I used to have issues blading pitches and even full shots with my 56/11, bending to 54/9 all but eliminated it. I really want to go Glide for my next sand and maybe lob wedge - but concerned the bounce will be a hair too high.

I haven’t had any problems with what you describe, as long as I keep the face square. What’s amazing to me about these is I can take my 56* SS, keep the face square and hit it fairly high on a short pitch. For me this is easily the most versatile wedge I’ve played. This shot prior with Vokeys required that I used my 60 if I wanted to hit it high.

Bit the bullet and ordered a 54SS and 60TS. Really enjoyed my MG2’s but always a big fan of ping. Anyone know if the TS plays as higher than listed bounce? Also hoping these wear well as I play a ton of golf for living in Wisconsin.
