Yeah not even in the same wheel house, a parent or coach doesn't supersede expectation set by the organization running an event, nor would acting like a jerk be an expectation or acceptable in any sport. Nice attempt tho on trying to spin it around.

We walk ahead all the time, but just make sure we are not in our partner's range of error.

My group is all mid/low single digit handicappers, so we know where we can stand. It keeps the round moving.

I'm a firm believer in ready golf. Walk towards/up to your ball if it's safe and not in the way. If someone is ready to hit while others are finding their ball, getting ready , etc, they take their shot regardless of who is away. This is not during match play of course but that format is rare in my experience. It helps keep things moving along.

 

Of course I'll ask about it if I'm with people I don't know just to make sure no one has a problem with it.

If you're not walking ahead to your ball and preparing to hit your shot immediately after your playing partner(s), then you should not be on the golf course.  I can't stand watching a foursome follow each ball in the fairway, standing there watching the hitter like they are a gallery. Those days of slow play have been gone for 20 years. This is what causes 4-5 hour rounds. Go to your ball, get your club ready and watch out so you don't get hit.  After you hit, walk/drive as far forward as safely possible, staying off the green until your partners approach shots are complete.  I always do this and expect other players to do this as well.  I dont bother to ask, and frankly don't care if it bothers anyone.  I don't tolerate slow play.

I agree with walking ahead to your ball for pace of play. Unless you are directly in my ball flight path it doesn’t bother me. As for the pros, as someone said earlier, the crowd/gallery stands way closer than Brooks was standing.

I prefer people walking ahead to there ball. The only time it irritates me is when we are on the tee box. When we are on the fairway, go ahead and walk to your ball. We are not filming an episode of lessons with the pro and I am not waiting for you to get to my ball.

I prefer prompt play as well, but to say that you simply don't care about offending others is absolutely the wrong attitude to have.  You can walk ahead while still being considerate of the other players in your group.
