It is funny to read such strong opinions of someone who has strong opinions. The irony.?

It’s simple

 

“When in Rome...”

 

This simple rule, removing your hat in a dining room, is a simple custom that *no one should whine about (at least not a grown man) and that people should be happy to comply with to show an understanding of the traditions and ways of the club.

 

When you visit someone’s home, another country, or any establishment with a set of cultural standards, it’s a small thing to show a sense of community and appreciation for their customs.

 

Its not like they are forcing him to participate in a bizarre ritual that is offensive to some morality.

 

Or telling him like,

 

 

And, I think BK will drop this juvenile attitude, like mocking the reporter for not knowing about the garbage tie on his sneakers, now that he is 30.

Like I said, hope Brooks shows up to a tournament and plays with his hat backwards, his polo untucked from his shorts, and an absolute nuke in his lower lip. Start some new traditions.

See, I wouldn’t mind that. Some personality *on the field is lacking in golf and most sports these days. We used to have far more characters in golf and every sport.

 

The field is “game day”, you want to show up with some “war paint”, Red Shirt or like

 

Lester Hays all covered in stickum!

BK is a great player, and it's possible he is a great guy off the course. But I don't see him off the course. i see him playing a game (that I love) for a living, receiving the adulation of crowds for the slightest success, and looking miserable most of the time. Then he makes tons of snarky, dismissive comments in interviews. If that's your cup of tea--great. But it's not mine. There are many great players who appear to love playing the game and enjoy the celebrity and/or opportunity it brings them. Those are the guys I like.

And that's totally fine. Everyone has the right to root for who they want to root for and not root for who they don't want to root for. You'd be hard pressed to find someone who disagrees with that sentiment. My issue is the people who think Koepka should be forced to change for the sanctity of the sport, and I think that is absolutely asinine. Don't like him? Don't root for him, as you are. But, to want to force the guy to change because he comes across as miserable or rude to the media, or whatever else people don't like him for, is absolutely ridiculous.

On the media part of what I said. I think that it's a good thing. Golf media (as almost every other sports media), think they're entitled to something (Looking at you, Brandel), and I find that gross.

I root for Brooks because I think he's an incredible golfer who brings something to the game that 99% of golfer's don't.

If you're going to play the game observe the rules and standards that go along with it, including showing respect to those established by the PGA and the local venue at which you play. Don't take their money then act offended at the standards they expect.
