it's the south ... every hour of every day is a possibility for thunderstorms in august ... if only from the average person dealing with this absurd heat & humidity ...

Facts are useful.

Hope they take this as a sign to cancel the event next year. The marketing isn't working, nobody is fooled. Nobody cares which millionaire golfer gets $15 million richer. They want to see players go for glory, and winning a phony "tour championship" doesn't move the needle. This even is just as fake as the TW vs Phil Thanksgiving matchplay, maybe even faker.

Why increase the odds? Do you not know of or remember Jacklin, Nichols, Heard and Trevino?

The Tour Champ is always weird and sort of boring in a way because they only have 30 golfers - but staggering the strokes is a fundamentally dumb way to find a “fair” champion. Golf is great because each week you never know who is going to get hot and fight for the win. And the playoffs are great for the same reason!!! Chez Reavie could shoot the low 72 hole score for the week and still lose by several strokes/have no real chance to win. That’s fundamentally stupid and goes against the entire concept of both golf and playoffs. The PGA has created something that is neither and I don’t like it.

Well most of us dont really like to watch is because tiger isnt there to compete. The last yr's champion should really be exempted.

> They said 28 minutes between the horn and the lightening strike. If you’ve walked out more than five or six holes from the clubhouse, you’re not making it back in time. Even then, there aren’t enough buses to get everyone out of the open all at once. Golf’s lucky people don’t get killed on a regular basis.

Scary thing was that everything was back to normal when the lightning hit out of nowhere.

I googled the numbers myself, but the situation is different when you run an event and you assume some degree of responsibility for the safety of your customer. I just think it’s an issue when the tour knows you can’t get everyone off the course in 28 minutes and there’s no available shelter, even if they could. The tour has ignored the issue for years, it was only 2015 when caddies sat out an electrical storm in a three sided metal shack because keeping them out of the clubhouse was more important than their safety.

In cheerier lightening news.....did anyone else catch this from the other day? Direct hit on the flagstick. A hole in one, if you will.

I haven't really watched much of this event or last week's tournament at Medinah. Put me in the boat of just not caring who wins the 15 mil. Brooks has been the best golfer this year and already won all the other $ a few weeks ago for being top of the Fedex points at the end of the regular season. Now if the PGA and Firestone were being played the past few weeks would've obviously watched that.

I have been tuning into GC to catch some of the Korn Ferry playoffs mostly to watch Hovland get his card..

Nah. The real winner this week is Mrs. Glover. 400k to spend and all Lucas had to do was stick a peg in the ground, then hang up the Gone Fishin sign.
