Getting from Keystone to DIA

Wanting to play at Keystone River on a Wednesday Morning with a plane to catch at DIA at 625pm. How long is that trip going to take in the rental car? So when do we have to leave and best tee time say 5 hours prior. My first thought is 10am tee time, finish by 3pm, 2 hour trip or is that cutting it fine?

The flight departs at 6:25pm? Not sure where you're heading next, but that means boarding will start around 5:40pm. Security could take 5-45 minutes depending on a bunch of factors. Check-in could take 5-45 minutes depending on a bunch of factors. Shuttle from rental car plaza to the terminal will take 10-15 minutes. Traffic in Denver metro gets really bad starting at 3pm.

 

I personally think you need to be done with golf by 1pm to allow for enough time to incorporate some padding. Just depends how much risk you're willing to take.

Agreed. Coming down the mountain won’t be too bad, but I-70 from the can get jammed near Golden anytime of day, and it’s even worse through Denver with the dig project going on. It’s pretty easy to say it will be a parking lot from Washington to Tower Road.

Sounds like 9 holes rather than 18. I'd rather have an hour up my sleeve and take the stress out of it than be stuck on a freeway with time running out. That happened to me in LA and it was not fun.

Could you cram Keystone sometime before Wednesday? If anything, leave Summit County around 8am towards Denver and grab an 11am tee-time at Green Valley Ranch or Murphy Creek (or maybe Riverdale Dunes) before you have to leave. That puts you really close to the airport and you could be checking-in at DIA by 4:30 or so.

 

Oh yeah, starting on the back 9, I would start checking Google Maps every other hole to see how long it will take to get to the airport as well as DIA's website for security wait times (they are pretty darn accurate). You know, just in case.
