As much as I enjoyed my time with my G400max and as much as I really wanted the F9 or the TS2 to work, the m6 was just head and shoulders above everything else.

I play the same set-up. Once I got my swing in the correct place, this combo is a killer!!!

Mizuno ST-190 / Tour AD-IZ 8x. 196g head @ 45.5 D4!...drives into wind like its not there, get up and keeps going n going. Easy to shape shots. Sneeky long. Hot. Forgiving. Def tester!

I personally think that G410 takes the driver of the year title. The numbers it produces along with the forgiveness and stability is unreal.

My M3 440 has been a solid low spin beast for me this year. I’m looking forward to the new Taylormade drivers to come out so I can score a new M5 tour for cheap!

Put me in the camp with the M5 guys. Really able to dial in shot shape with it. First full round with it today. Thought I had it set but was missing left...pulls. on 10 I moved the one weight from draw to back of the track and got the butter fades I play. Didn't miss a fairway the entire back nine...wasn't even close to missing one either.

 

I have a ts3 head sitting in the room. Just came in yesterday so i have to put the adapter on my backup rogue and I'll test them head to head.

Ts3 is a MAJOR contender..it's faster than the m5 by a couple mph and doesnt spin anymore or less than m5.

 

Launch monitor comparison done. Now need a range session and then course comparison...if I get the same forgiveness as the m5 and get longer drives then m5 goes bye bye.

How does the Gen2 PXG 0811X compare to the Ping G410 Plus?

I am an old golfer nearly 80 with a swing speed between 85 - 90 mph and have tried most of these drivers. The ones I was most disappointed with was the Ping g410 models because of their offset and being let handed nearly every shot would go a long way to the right. The Taylormade M5, for me, was one of the better ones for forgiveness and length. However the best one was the PXG 0811XF, which is very forgiving driver even when hit out of the toe or heel and for me generally hit it further than any of the others, and I love it. I read a lot of comments about how expensive they are , but you can actually get them at a cheaper price than most of the others, if you look around.

I saw a youtube video of a guy comparing a TaylorMade M6 with an older M2.

 

No significant different in performance.

 

Seems like folks are splitting hairs with current golf technology.

Just straight distance comparison you're splitting hairs. But the biggest thing I've seen with m5 and m6 is consistancy in ballspeed and spin across the face. Mishits on m5 and m6 are better.

The xr16 described by you is the driver I have been using for a couple years. When I originally tested it, it beat out many other drivers I tried in both distance and dispersion. It seems like every year people are trading in drivers for the latest and greatest as if they are getting 10-15 yards each purchase.

I played today, 35 out, Callaway supersoft, xr driver, I was carrying my tee shots 230, I love the Evo shaft, @65 good for me.

I switched to using tungsten putty. Easier to work with. I got the idea from a putter thread on this site. I got it at Hobby Lobby.

Last year, the Callawaw Epic Flash Subzero was really hard to beat, this year the SIM will be really tough to beat. 2021 I guess Callaway will return to crown, but not this year.

On Scotty Cameron thread I mentioned I was trading some clubs for new Scotty, one was new Mizuno 200, just doesn’t give me what my M5 is giving me, I know launch monitors are good info, and since the guys grabbed my driver adjusted, said don’t look at settings, just hit, well my setup, 220 total carry, yesterday 274, ball speed up to 151, launch 13.8, at 65 years old, that helps a lot!

But with all that said I’m holding out for what Ping will produce next, maybe in fall, I’ve heard?

I am in the 102-105 swing speed, my current gamer is the Ping G LST, I have the G400LTS and the G410LTS heads (thanks Ping!!!), I have tried every shaft I have (stock 65X Ping Tour, Aldila 120 MSI X, and the ADDI 7X, all playing at 44.25" length) in every head, hours of practice and dialing in, and I still go back to the G LST, it simply gives me the overall better performance with the Ping Tour shaft as well, sound is much better with the G410 LST by far, love them all but I just cannot argue with the results, and it transfers to the course...

The M6 is one of the best drivers I’ve ever hit.

I have the EFSZ and have come from Rouge SZ. Nothing in it in terms of outright performance IMO (literally the same, I can't tell them apart) but the sliding weight helped me to totally eliminate the left miss I hate so much. I actually prefer the sound of the Rogue as well. But, fairways found are fairways found.

Many would argue the PING g410 was the best of the bunch in 2019 and again in 2020.

Are drivers really that much different from one year to the next, or is it marketing hype? I still use the Callaway XR 16 driver from 2015.

Now I think we all know the answer to that. Of course they get better each and every year and we all gain at least 10 yards and hit more fairways! ??? Now the truth. No they do not get better every year. I hit my M3 better and farther than the SIM. I can also hit my old Mizuno MP 650 just as far as anything else out there. Marketing just wants us to believe what they say and lots do but I really believe that drivers maxed out about 10 years ago. Some might just hit a newer driver better than another but a properly fit driver from 2015 will beat any driver out there that isn’t fit.

Kinda, sorta. On a flushed shot, absolutely. That stated, the latest and greatest are better on mishits. As a result, your average distance may improve as there should be less distance loss on those mishits.
