What's your golf routine?

This is my usual day playing golf:

Always play a twilight round.

Will often play an out of the way course, up to an hour drive.

First thing I do is put on my sun block and take a couple aspirin.

Always stretch before even picking up a club, ALWAYS.

I rarely hit warm up balls, unless they are included in the green fees.

I putt and chip, then I'm ready for the first tee.

I smoke two cigars during my round, the first one MUST be lit and ready to go BEFORE I tee off on the first hole.

Banana and energy bar at the turn.

Once I'm done on 18, I'll usually keep playing until dark if there is a spot open somewhere and I'm not holding anyone up.

At dark I hit the road and find a good restaurant for dinner, usually wood fired pizza or BBQ, maybe a good burger.

I'll grab something sweet for the drive home. Stop off at my gym for a nice long hot shower and head home.

Anyone else with a specific routine?

Wow that's specific..... We are the dew sweepers, first on Saturday-Sunday. Usually arrive 25 minutes prior to tee time & never a warm-up outside if ready early some putts on the first tee.

Coffee in my contigo & a trip to the restroom.

A stretch (very minimal) if I feel like it and maybe a practice swing & ready to go.

Coffee at the turn and get impatient if over 3:15 hours.

A new golfer joined us this weekend and he is used to playing with the gamblers (4-5 foursomes) on the weekend (and they've been warned about their 4:30 rounds by the GM). He was slow not because of a slow routine, but because he moves slow (as he has Congrats B) lost 80 lbs and has more to go) and was over the moon that we were playing in 3:10. Happy if he wants to join us anytime!!!

Afterwards a drink and have fun. Want to be home by 11:00 am.

I usually have range days on Tuesday and Thursday. One is a technical practice day with video/aids and a methodical approach. Usually I have a plan or problem area in mind for those days. The other practice day is on everything inside a hundred yards. Pitching, chipping, putting, weird lies, problem areas etc.

Friday night is date night with the wife. I'm lucky to have an avid golfer wife who wants to play a lot. We golf until about 8pm and then go for a nice dinner and some drinks. Its my favorite day of the week and we have a ton of fun.

Weekend rounds are usually early morning competition rounds, money games with our regular group or a regional tournament etc. I'll hit some warm up balls on the important rounds, other than those ones its stretch, putt for 10 minutes and let it rip. I will usually down 3-4 beers on 18 holes on a fun round.

I would love to have a routine similar to this. My usual round is be at the bagel shop when the door opens at 6am on Saturdays. Eat a bagel on the way to the course. Arrive at 6:35 am and tee off at 6:45. Me and my buddy are first off and half the time we go into the clubhouse at the turn for a soda and snack. We typically are finished by 9:30. I head home and me and my 13 YO daughter will typically head out to run errands and lunch.

I play mornings (or occasionally mid-day instead) at weekends and late afternoons during the week.

The weekend routine is to basically have breakfast as per usual, then do my usual stretching routine, shower, etc. Only difference between a Saturday/Sunday golf day and a working day is I can take my time a bit as golf starts an hour later than work. Oh, and I put sunscreen on to go play golf. Then grab the golf clubs, stick them in the trunk, drive to the course, chip and putt for a few minutes until tee time.

Weekday afternoons I put my clubs in the trunk before leaving for work. Leave work, drive to the course and pretty much head straight to the first tee. Stop at the first tee for 5-10 minutes of stretching and practice swings to warm up.

I play golf 130+ times a year so golf is, in fact, very "routine" for me. Not a lot of special preparations or unusual activities involved. Oh, and I do clean my clubs pretty much as soon as I get home after golf so they're ready to go again for the next round.

I go with the flow. Sometimes I show up an hour early to hit balls, putt and chip. Other days I roll up 10 mins before and my first tee ball is like my 4th physical swing of the day. Usually the latter.

Play 3-4 times per week with a group of typically between 3 to 5 foursomes, though sometimes more. Our "commish" sets the group game & the pairings. Tee times between 8:30 a.m. and 9 a.m.

Arrive 30 min early to warm up after about a 1 mile dog walk. I dont stretch. Here's my typical routine:

1. About a dozen right and left handed "air" swings (not hitting a ball) with driver gradually getting faster

2. About a dozen drivers starting at less than half speed gradually increasing to 3/4 speed (I start with driver because the longer club gets me loose faster and I dont have to make contact with the ground until I'm more warmed-up)

3. About a dozen 6 or 7 irons normal speed

4. About a dozen wedges, varying speed and trajectory

5. Finish with 3 or 4 full speed drivers

...off to putting green

1. About a dozen right (strong) hand only putts, mostly long lags

2. About a dozen regularly gripped putts of varying lengths, speed, & breaks

(Entire warmup takes less than 30 min)

Step up to first tee and let it fly! Afterwards it's lunch, a few beverages, ball-breaking & squaring bets with the boyz.

    • Sony Open Pics from January 11, 2022 Part 1
I was able to get out to the Sony Open today to take a few pics.  I guess due to Covid precautions they kept the spectators pretty far from the players.  Also due to camera restrictions they've put in place, I wasn't able to bring the big lens like I normally do. Hopefully they'll ease up on the ropes and I'll be able to get more pics tomorrow!
