Bridgestone - please bring the J15 CB back!

NYCGolfNut

Recommended Posts

If they ever release the J15cb in a raw finish, i would buy two sets on the spot. Have these iron in the bag for the last 5 years and i cant even look at other irons. first to get my attention is the new mp20. But the j15 arent leaving the bag anytime soon. Been searching for a replacement set for some time now, but with no luck.

Bridgestone, rerelease the j15cb in a raw version!!!! and ship them to canada! (Someone here must have a contact at bridgestone and help us out)

Yeah, I totally get that. Maybe I misspoke. Meant to say under the Bridgestone brand. They obviously have access to those designs. It would be great to see updates not only of j15, but also TS 701, 709mc, z101, mr23 us spec just to name a few. Such classic designs.

I love mine. 3 years in the bag and will keep them as long as I can. Best combination of distance, forgivness, and feel of any iron I've tried. I also love the look behind the ball, they really fit my eye. I've always loved Bridgestone irons. I've gamed the Tourstage Z-101 irons and J33 Blades before getting the J15 CB's. I have mine fitted with KBS C-taper shafts.

I went the other way and built a combo set with the DF 5 and 6. I probably have a 4-6 CB if you're interested. Would have to check the tool chest to be 100% sure.

I too have tried other clubs and can't beat these. Just built my 2nd set with mint heads I've been hoarding. I plan to have the current gamers refinished at some point next season. For $40/head it makes no sense to buy new. Iron factory is great for that.

5-6 J15 DF and 7-PW CB is a great combo. Essentially the same as TM P760.

I found a pretty decent set of J15 CBs from another member here. Very happy with them, but have a desire to try the 7-P or 8-P in the J15 MBs. A colleague has them, and let me try them this weekend. Loved the feel.

Both the CB and MB are lovely to play with, and should combo nicely. Just need to find a nice set of 7-P or 8-P in the MBs...

How much weight is lost with a refinish? Do you have info on that? Cost wise, it does make sense but I'd hate to lose too much headlight.

The only thing I would change is the offset look.. it has a little more than I'd like to see but the top line is thinner already than most in this iron category, much thinner than my 745s were, and the sole design although meaty, is one of the reasons I think these irons play so well... Thinning them out may look better but I think the bounce and grind is really good from just about any lie. Blade length is a tad long, but I like the look of forgiveness. I'm finding the hosel a lot more than the center of the face lately so it may not really matter...LOL

I lost about 5-6 grams going raw. I agree with your thoughts on how the sole width and grind make these irons great. Plenty of other options for a thinner soled CB but im quite enjoying mine so far

I agree with this though I do not know if they really are lighter than comparable irons. They feel thar way to me too, but I love how they play. Such precise irons. Sneds puts a little lead tape on them he says to both add weight and fine tune the COG.

They re-chrome them so very little. Just fresh grooves would be the only loss. I have had no issues with swingweight.

@kennyky I’m playing the 2017 version. The newest ones I think are Japan release. The only place I’ve seen then for sale was at Tourspec. The new ones are beautiful and are sold as a combo set as well, which is awesome! I asked Bridgestone about any new product releases and they said nothing is scheduled at the moment.

There is a member on here that posted them not too long ago. He said they were on the small side and incredibly soft. Speaking to the newest version of the combo set.

Bridgestone playing games or teasing us !

Jin Young Ko won 2 majors this year with the tour x-cb. I would guess she is playing the latest version... even less reason not to release this model globally

I played Tourstage MR23 as my gamers for years. Went through some swing changes and I couldn't hit them as well. Enter J40s. I played a mixed set of J40DPC in 4,5,6 & J40CB in 7-pw. My son now plays those. I got lucky and picked up some j15CB heads off craigslist for $60. Shafted with C-Taper120 and I shot some of the best rounds of my life. Although I try to look at other irons, none seem to be able to knock these out of my bag.

I hit a used set of J40 DPC at a golf store. Still feels awesome. A few years ago I was choosing between that and Epon 503 and went with Epon. I don't regret it but I do wonder what the J40 DPC would've been like as a regular gamer. I'd buy a set if I could get it brand new.

S55s still try and creep in the bag, but everytime I play the J15 CB it's pure joy. My bad shots don't kill me and the distance I get is almost too good. Still very much in love with these. A great alternative are the Srixon 765s, 7i to 7i I can barely tell the difference from the top.

I love mine and I think it's kinda cool that they are no longer available.

It's adds to the uniqueness and mystique of owning/gaming such a fantastic set of sticks that a whole bunch of golfers wish they could get their hands on.

After saying that, I'd really like to get a new set, wink wink!
