Bring any high school team you want down to Florida and see how they do.  They’ll get smoked.
I grew up in NJ, also lived in Michigan for awhile.   Was involved with gold in both states.
The level of golf down here is much higher.    ( Same with other sports too)

Playing on a 6100 yard course.  Your kids were would be toast.

Also, the level is that much better?  Really?  6 of the top 50 boys are from Washington DC metro area.  3 from Florida.

The level of golf would be a lot better here if we didn't have to wait from November - March.

The jr golf down here is so much deeper.   Is it because there are more courses , easier access to courses, and year round play?    Probably a big factor.
you can cherry pick a few top players here and there, but a lot of what is considered good high school teams up north are only maybe 2-3 players deep.
same is true for football and baseball.  Thats  why Florida , Texas , and California get recruited so hard.

From a pure depth standpoint, the players in Florida are better.  We can have a tournament with only Floridians in it with a better field than an AJGA in your area.  California and Texas are the same because the depth of the player is that much better.

It is the same for Football and Baseball as well.

In florida the average kid practices a lot more and plays way more courses. It's also a large state so there are a lot more kids playing.  Also in Florid there are lot kids who travel to florida for the winter.  We played in both regions and in General the competition is much greater in Florida especially in the winter.

Not enough kids from Florida travel out of state and it hurts their rankings. The confidence a kid gets from traveling and doing well is a big deal in development.  The same thing can be said of California or Texas.  Playing in these states is much tougher then other states.

Our school won the SFPGA HS Championship last year.  I think our team is better this year.  We are not allowed to travel outside the 4 county area so have to play everything local until Districts this year.

SFPGA does a good job.  I just don't like the 10 stroke limit rule for a tournament of this caliber.  The East Coast had 10 teams in it this year.  I think Covid stopped the West coast Invitational from being a large event.

You guys are playing 6400 yards, but looks like a tough course with a 72.5 rating and a 140 slope.

Congratulations.

We had a home course tournament today.  My kid has been playing like doo doo and didn’t qualify.  So coach made a B team.  B team shot 305 and my kid won the tournament in a downpour with a 73.

Some kids just turn it on for tournaments.

Rather have a scrappy kid whose a gamer, that shows up when it counts and the pressures on.

And A team shot +13 for 301 total.

Had the normal A team been playing together would have shot +7 295 from 6800 yards on a really tight course.

That’s pretty good.   Any switch up with the Regionals this year due to some teams not playing?

FHSAA screwed our region.  For 3A they cancelled all of Regions 4.  Took the 5 teams that opted in and threw them into the district just south of us.  Two of the teams are pretty decent in St. Thomas Aquinas and Columbus.  Which means they took probably two teams out of that Region that would advance to state and put them into our region.  So now there are only 3 Regions for the Class 3A.  The FHSAA hasn't said a word to how it will work now.  We are assuming rather than 3 teams from each region they will take 4 from each region with the 4 at large.  Otherwise it will mess up all the pairings.  At this point, who the heck knows what they will do.  They are making it up as they go along with no rhyme nor reason.  Our region is really deep and literally has 7 teams competing for 3/4 spots.

Region 2 combined with now Region 4

Windermere

Dr. Phillips

Lake Nona

Vero Beach

South Fork

Columbus

St. Thomas Aquinas

Your Region has 4 teams fighting for 3/4 spots.

Riverview

Gulf Coast

Steinbrenner

Plant

Region 1 is loaded.  But I only see 4 teams  being able to compete for the 3/4 spots.  This is by far the deepest region.  There are going to be several teams not advance to the state finals that are better than some of the other teams that do advance in other regions.

Winter Park

Chiles

Lake Mary

I think Steinbrenner also has a decent team   in our region

Meant newsome.

Based on Rankings and looking at scores, Newsome can't compete.  They would be the 10th ranked team in our region.  They would be the 12th ranked team in Region 1.  Overall they are ranked 25th.

When are your regionals?  Best of luck, sounds like 2020 has created yet more ambiguity....

We have Districts on Monday.  Top 3 teams advance along with top 3 individuals not on teams.  We should win our district by a lot.

Regionals are the following week.  We are fortunate enough that our Regional is being held on the same course as Districts.  The only thing I don't like about the course is that it is an extremely easy course.  71.2 rating and if you drive it 250 there are 3 reachable in two par 5's.

They’ve got a few good players.  Who can go low.  We will see.  Still curious as to how all this will play out as far as regions and teams

Current situation with 3A Region 4 is a mess. Multiple options were pitched to alleviate the disadvantage brought about by throwing teams into random regions/districts, but rumor is that at this time there will be no changes made to add automatic qualifiers or additional wildcard teams. This would mean there would be less total teams at the 3A championship.

Time will tell...

I emailed the state.  3 Teams each region and 4 at large teams for a total of 13 teams.

I feel they should have made compensations and should have thrown in 4 teams from each Region. That honestly makes the most sense.

Of course, nothing the FHSAA does has made since after Dearing left.

9 teams from the remaining regions + 4 wildcard teams (introduced last year) to make 13 teams instead of the usual 16.

I don't blame them how they treated Region 4 and threw those 5 teams into District 8.  However, you just took a team that routinely goes to the State tournament from that region and through them into Region 3 with no compensations.  That could either leave a team out that was pretty much expecting to advance or it could leave that team out that would have all been guaranteed to advance out of Region 4.

I see it as the FHSAA being lazy.  They could have redistributed the classifications for one year.  They could have formed a Region 4.  Both of those would have taken work.

This is strange.  But I guess the FHSAA  is part of the government so not unexpected.

They are not regulated by the government, but heavily influenced.
