Golf Podcasts

Anyone find a really good golf podcast? I listen to quite a few different podcasts but the one I enjoy the most happens to be all about golf. It's called "Golf Smarter" with host Fred Greene. He has created hundreds of very interesting and informative podcast over several years and I am pleasantly surprised by how much I can learn from listening to these podcasts. They cover so much, from the mental aspect of golf to equipment to technique and much more. I feel that these podcasts have helped me more than golf lessons at the range.

Depends on what you’re looking for in a golf podcast. I really like No Laying Up for the humor and tour-related content. Their interviews are usually good as well. Fried Egg gets heavily into golf architecture, and the host brings Geoff Ogilvy on frequently, including for majors previews. They seem to have a good rapport. I’m sure there are numerous other options as well.

The Bag Drop is pretty good. Good interviews and discussions on courses (especially, but not exclusively the Chicago area), hickory clubs and trends. The fact that it's NOT tour focused is refreshing to me.

Another vote for No Laying Up. Surprised nobody has mentioned the Golfwrx pods yet. All the Golfwrx pods bring their own style and are entertaining in their own right. Cant wait for Monday’s Off to drop!

The Mediocre Golf Podcast is pretty good.

I listen to a bunch. they range all over the place. I think my fav golf related pod casts golf science lab, the fitting room and superintendents radio. I listen to the wrx stuff. Not a big fan of the no laying up stuff. Feels to frat house to me..

Golf smarter is good, but golf science lab is similar with better content.

Hey everyone … I know what direction this could possibly go by posting in an online forum, but wanted to let you all know some buddies and I just launched our own ‘golf/golf-adjacent’ podcast called ‘ForeFathers’ that’s conceivably about golf but also telling dad stories and potentially expanding out into other ‘dad’ areas of interest.

 

We’re mostly 35-40ish, low to mid-handicappers (2-12) who are just talking about what interests us in golf and beyond. 

 

If you’re interested in giving us a listen I would love feedback from other golf junkies about what’s good/bad so we can keep improving. Thanks!

If you have a junior golfer and want some insight into transitioning, recruiting and college golf in general check out: Scrambling with Dylan Otto. 

 

He as some good guests, kid that plays for Oklahoma St, a couple kids from Australia and an episode coming out with a highly ranked Arizona State golfer.  The first few episodes are his journey to playing DII golf, then the rest have guests.

NLU is slightly fratty. Not as bad as Barstool. I mean the Kill House is a frat house.

Hal Sutton and Chase Cooper  @lv_2_hack have a new podcast and it is awesome.  Hal tells stories from the Tour, and Chase adds from the technical and teaching side.  Hal is a great story teller and he has been there and done that, so when he talks, I listen.  Chase knows as much about the golf swing as anyone in the country.

 

Be The Right Club Today I think is the name of it.  I follow both on twitter and insta and they have put the first one up already.  Good stuff.

One podcast I haven't seen mentioned yet is Feed the Ball.  It is an architecture podcast so if you like The Fried Egg, you'll enjoy this one as well.  The host is Derek Duncan and a lot of the shows are co-hosted by Jim Urbina - guests include all the big names in course design.

 

Among the pods already listed, I also listen to The Fried Egg, No Laying Up, Shotgun Start, Erik Anders Lang, and Chasing Scratch.
