Acu-strike golf mat or equivalent?

RichieRichAus

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

I heard of the acu-strike mat from reading the planemate thread and I think this could provide me with really good feedback as I'm pretty certain I hit behind the ball consistently.

Has anyone used it and if so, what's your verdict?

Can anyone recommend any other easy solutions that can be used at the range?

Thanks in advance.

Cheap foot spray (99 cent store), spray a line on the ground or mat. It's the only way I can tell if I'm hitting fat on a mat.

Yes, just get the off brand at the 99 cent store for 99 cents, not $5.

Bump, it'd be great for indoor practice in the winter since it shows low point and swing path.

There's also the Fat Plate and the Impact Pro 1000 (or something like that), which train low point but using a different method.

I bought one recently and find it very useful. Whilst foot spray, towels etc can provide some information, the Acu-Strike is very convenient to show up a range of issues. I can practice in my back garden without a ball and work on swing path, low point and avoiding heel/toe strikes. It gives graphic feedback on why I am so inconsistent at golf!

Received the indoor version yesterday and tried it out with my 8 year old.

The immediate feedback was really helpful to him in understanding exactly where his club had bottomed out. It sort of turns into a game to see how quickly you can move low point to - and then in front of - where the ball would be. Some of the best training aids are fun to use and don’t feel like work, and I’d certainly put this in that category.

That's what I did, I have a mat in the garage so I bought the outdoor version of Acu strike and set itover the garage mat. Works perfectly but, the Acu strike mat will slide after every other hit. My plan is to drill two holes through each mat and secure it with zip ties for winter use. Then I'll remove the zip ties in the spring so I can bring the Acu strike mat outside.

I used the indoor mat outside off wooden decking (driving range) as is suggested. Second swing ripped the outer material and crushed the inner. If you read ALL the fine print on the back side of the packaging, you might eventually discover that the mat cannot be used if it's cold. I regularly play golf when it's in the upper 30s or lower 40s - never occurred to me that I couldn't hit off a mat. Owner didn't care and just suggested that it was my fault for not seeing the warning. I admit that I didn't read it all carefully - I also don't read the terms and agreements for every app I download. My bad I guess.

Anyone know how durable the Acu-Strike is? Is it rated for a certain number of swings? Logically you’d think that players who take deep divots and don’t correct themselves would wear it out sooner. But for those who take a normal divot and who practice on it 2-3 times per week an hour at a time, what do you think is a reasonable lifespan for one? Could get $ if you have to replace it multiple times in a short period of time.

I ordered this product and did not receive it. I contacted the company and told them if I don't get a response that day I would report fraud. This is the response I got

I really love people like you and I don't do so well with people threatening me.

I have sued a couple people like you who did exactly what you said and they're fraud charge was fraudulent and they lost in small claims court cuz they couldn't come and I sue them for $10,000 each...

So would you like to report fraud when you have no clue as to anything you sound like a stupid snot.

Here's your information.

Your product was ordered 822 it was shipped on 8/24

You can see your tracking number and also the tracking that we tracked the package.

You can see what it says.
That it will be arriving late and is in transit to the next facility.

I understand that USPS has been inundated with orders I was some of their older workers out they are backlogs and sometimes a package gets held up for work up to a week or more.

What we do in cases like this is if they do not deliver the package within 15 days, we will put in a claim with them for a lost package and send the customer out a new one.

You are not 15 days since we shipped.

If you do not get it in 15 days after August 24th if you'll contact us again we will put the cleaning and send you another one.

Now I don't know where you come from that you were stopping and stamping your feet and threatening me cuz you have no idea who I am to threaten.

Have a tiny bit of patience as the world is having problems if you didn't realize it.

And I'm sure if you go to your country club they will do whatever you want the second you wanted but just not in the real world.

Have a good day.

The Divot Board (https://www.divotboard.com/) is a simlar but superior product. Significantly higher price, but much more useful than a piece of flimsy cloth.

Reviews of this are reasonable. They also sell a replacement mat for the board (they acknowledge that it will eventually wear out). This is about 1/3 of the price of the whole board so if cost is an issue you could just buy this and mount it yourself on a homemade base.
