Has anyone out there hit steelfiber 125x, MMT 125TX, accra 125 x, and recoil prototype 125 f5? Looking for the stiffest graphite that builds to normal swingweight.

Spent 45 minutes this evening hitting an Apex Pro Dot 7 iron with the MMT125TX. Man the spin was almost two low and when I went at it 100% it seems like the shaft couldn’t keep up and the big miss was high push/slice right. Slowed down my swing 3-4 mph and the shaft came alive. They definitely require less than aggressive move and when I smooth out my swing they flat out perform. I was hitting my 7 iron carrying 194 at 90mph swing with 133 ball speed. Spin was 5200 to 5600 and they were on a rope about 90-110 height. The only complaint is they spin very low and it is hard to work the ball. Wish they softened them up a bit and decreased the torque so it would stabilize them at higher swing speeds. Was swinging 94 and I was all over the place. Again when I smoothed out my swing they are amazing and addictive with how nice they feel. Definitely want a softer shaft that allows me to be able to work the ball. Verdict is in and I am not jumping on the MMT wagon quite yet until they soften them up a bit. Verdict is in and I am going with SF125i S. Can provide track man data next time. Mitsubishi make a 125S+ with lower torque.

Its extremely small. Cant remember the measurements off hand but, the brass weights designed for graphite shafts from golfworks do NOT fit.

Update: So I measured one of the tip weights mentioned above, and it comes out to .155" From memory these were still quite a bit too large to fit inside the tip of the shaft. This was on a 125TX shaft.

I didn't need to use tip weights but the internal tip diameter is narrow. Tungsten powder would probably be a better option unless someone wants to drill the tip section out of bit. I would consult with mitsu before doing that though, not sure.

For sake of difference, I just switched from Steelfiber i110cw "S" to i125cw "S" shafts in my 620 blades. They feel great and work too. It seems MB's go better with heaver shafts as opposed to lighter, or maybe it's just my tempo/transition like them better - what ever it is, initially it's a good weight shaft.

All these new carbon/compositep iron shafts come and go but 14 or whatever years later they’re still trying to displace Aerotechs as the best composite players’ iron shaft.

They need to be prepped like any other graphite shaft. Nothing special needed to build them just prep the tip, add some epoxy and install in the iron.

Crap, knew I should’ve stayed away. Even though I love my Fujikura Pro95 Tour Spec X-flex shafts, just can’t resist giving these a try.

I’m in between a s-flex and x-flex. Any recommendation on whether to go MMT 105s hard stepped once or 105tx soft stepped once? My Fujis are x-flex soft stepped once and had x100 soft stepped once before that. Another baseline would be I had some modus 105x that seem to be a good fit.

I've been slowly working my way toward a rebuild with a set of graphite shafts. I currently play NS Pro 950 GHs in stiff and really like them for how easy it is to get them up in the air and hold greens. I'm looking at the taper tip 105s and wondering what the flight profile would be. Anyone playing the 105s care to share some thoughts about the flight/spin characteristics?

 

Edited to add: I'm also wondering if it might be good idea to get the stiff flex softstepped once to try to recreate more (I know I can't do it completely) the feel/characteristics of the NS Pros. Would love to hear from anyone who has attempted something similar.

Just needs to be softer throughout the shaft without losing deformation. Spin just a hair more. However they do it, I am sure a 125S+ will be a grand slam with the masses! Graphite will keep ur hands in the game!

Market is saturated now but if Mitsubishi were to tweak the formula a bit than I am sure the thread would be 99 pages deep!

Go out and try for yourself and let me know what u think. Mitsubishi has the tighest tolerances in the game.

The OG Blueboard/Whiteboard had the biggest cult following ever.

If u want to tell Mitsubishi that I would be a guinea pig then I am ok with that. Would gladly send them my 125S Steelfibers for there supposed 125S shafts coming out in the fall.

Hopefully the rumors are true because i am going to say it will be the biggest rave since the launch of Kim Braly’s Satin Project X.

Just got official word that there will be more offerings available in MMT lineup before end of the year and a 125S will be included. The hope is for fall, however it's tough to say given world events.

Guess I'll just destroy my joints until then. :D

I got my hands on a set of 105tx .5” longer. I play standard length so what happens if I cut down the shafts being the taper tips. Would they play softer and if so how much?
