Advice on a golf course for an outing

Hey Everyone,

 

I was hoping to solicit some advice on here, after quite a bit of searching. I'm planning on having a small golf outing (around 20-30 people) Thursday-Sunday next year and would like to find a good value course to host it. A place that is kept in good shape, but wont break the bank. We are all relatively serious golfers, but will be drinking and partying quite a bit as well, so a place off the beaten path might work best (with maybe strip clubs or some nightlife nearby). It would be ideal to have the lodging be on the course so we don't have to drive, or have it really close to the course to minimizing drinking and driving. I am looking at eastern PA, NJ, MD, northern VA. Initially I was looking at Ocean City and the Poconos, but have been unable to find a good combination of a nice value course with lodging (townhomes preferably or a party house) on/near the course. I typically play in an outing at Bryce VA that I am loosing modeling it after, but its a bit too south and I would prefer to switch it up with a different venue. Anyway I have been looking around, but it seems like nothing quite fits the mold. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

NJ - Ballyowen preferred, or go to Crystal Springs Wild Turkey at the resort there.

Atlantic City - If you're looking for multiple courses there's ACCC, Twisted Dunes, Seaview Resort and a few other good to very good courses. Nightlife should speak for itself. Hire a bus service to drive you to 15 min or so to the courses from the AC hotels.

Rocky Gap in Maryland is pretty cool. Nice course, lodging on site, casino, bar, lake, etc. Kind of in the middle of nowhere

How about Penn National just a few minutes from Chambersburg PA? Located off I81 Exit 16. 2 courses, both in nice shape, onsite lodging and restaurant. Cannot comment on strip clubs and/or nightlife. My wife and I stayed/played there 2 summers ago and enjoyed our time. It isn't 5-star but it's clean and the people are friendly and easy to work with.

If you'd be willing to expand the area of search up to NY, I would recommend Turning Stone Resort. Three great courses (one that has hosted a PGA event a few times). Two of the courses you can walk to from the hotel, the third one is about a 5 minute shuttle ride. They have a full casino, several restaurants, sports betting, spa. Only thing they don't have is the strip club.

 

I've done a few guys' trips there, and I love it. Play 36, dinner, and then hit the poker tables.

My vote would be Bedford Springs (PA).

Thanks so much for the comments. I think penn national looks like the perfect venue and a good value. Tons of great options though.
