Hip surgery and/or general aging and weight shift helpsie

At 60 now and with two artificial hips I can’t get off my left side which causes a over the top straight pull. So I followed a Monte tip on bumping the right hip toward target, left for You righties. It alleviated the big pull and makes golf easier to manage a golf course. This also gives you a secondary spine tilt away from the target which I also cannot create anymore due to surgery.

I had a posterior but didn’t have a choice. The anterior seems to be better for recovery and less muscle is cut as well. I was told wait 6 weeks before golfing on the first one at 50, which was my trailing hip, and six weeks on the lead hip at 60. As far as a car driving on a posterior replacement on the right side it was six weeks due to a person using it for gas and brake pedals.

Your doctor may be more or less cautious depending on his view and your age.

As a righty with left hip replacement (65), I find I'm having more of an issue rotating around my left leg. It's more of the twisting (torque) motion that I'm struggling with than a bump although I'm still in the process of trying any recommendations. In any event, it's posting up on a straight left leg that bothers me. I've become very handsy to make up for the rotation limitations which has led to a whole other set of issues. Ugh.

I had my right hip (trail hip in my swing) replaced when I was 33. I had direct anterior approach and here's what my recovery looked like. In the hospital for 30 hours from check in to check out, was walking with crutches only a couple hours after surgery, gave myself a shower at the hospital before leaving. On the way home we stopped to get my scrips and I went inside Target on my crutches with my wife. I took my hydrocodone for only two days, after that was just taking Celebrex (because surgeon advised taking for 30 days to help with the inflammation). I started walking completely without crutches on day 10, was allowed to drive day 12 and began driving myself to my PY sessions. I think I golfed 18 holes around week 8 post op. I was swinging clubs lightly inside the house probabably week 3-4 and then gradually building up as comfortable.

Just asking here . Do you flare both feet out a bit. That helps me with turning and pain

Interesting how yours went. Mine this year with the posterior was less than 24 hours in. 10 years ago it was 2 night stay. And I was allowed to golf in 6 weeks but actually I waited another week.

They gave me the option of possibly going home same day, which would've been about 13-14 hours from check in to check out. But It was nice to take it easy that first night, have assistance from the nurses, etc.

I had my operation 2 days after Christmas and I live in the upper midwest, so really the only reason I was even able to golf at around 8 weeks was because we got a spell of really nice weather and a course opened up really early. Otherwise it would've been longer. I probably could've played earlier, but just didn't have the opportunity.
