Everything else other Tony said is true. The overwhelming majority of Callaway PGA tour pros have never played the retail ball. Callaway has had AT LEAST 2 players that I know of break contract to play a competitor’s ball. Two members of Callaway’s ball team confirmed that fact for me during the Epic Flash launch event. It’s also true that the new CSX Triple Track is a different golf ball. It’s not the same as the CSX white, CSX Truvis, etc.. While Callaway hasn’t hidden that fact it changed the CSX, it hasn’t exactly shouted it from the rooftops. The CSX TT wasn’t available at the time we tested, but sources have told us that it’s ~7% higher compression. I don’t know it for a fact, but I’m also told it’s the ball that the majority of Callaway’s Tour Players use.

Odd, isn’t it! Maybe Callaway is planning a huge reveal that demonstrates they have a high quality ball offering without core centring issues.

The CS and CSX are redesigned for 2020, and now structurally, are two totally different balls. Hence the change in box color. Had the opportunity to test last week and the new CS is incredible. Its what Xander is playing. Vast improvement on approaches to and around the green. CS comes with TT. I think release is late February,

For those wondering why Callaway has been quiet about the new ball, my guess is that any heavy promotion in a new ball right now will just have more people bringing up the QC issues of the past generation. While WRX'ers and people who frequent other forums were aware of the QC issues, a lot of the general golf public was not. That population is likely a huge percentage of their sales. So Callaway is perfectly happy letting the forums crowd know that they have addressed the QC issues, while keeping the general public unaware that there was ever an issue. Because if the general public knew about the issues, then it would not only affect the CS sales, but possibly their other balls as well. Because most people would think "if the premium Callaway ball offering is off by that much, how much are their other balls off?".

Our range balls are CSX and theres never been any issues. I've literally hit thousands of individual balls, YMMV of course.

Yeah, it’s a weird psychological issue that I All us wrxers have. I love the Chrome Soft and if I never read the internet I would be blissfully happy with my current boxes of balls. But here I am trying to get rid of them and make room for the new ones because of QC. Even though in personal experience these balls have been very consistent.

I have the new ball but I haven't hit it yet. I am told from the person I received them from that the new CS is focused on the everyday golfer with SS around 90. The ball is delivering ERC distances with tour level spin. It will be shown next week at PGA show with a March Release. I don't want to post any pictures..hopefully everyone understands. The ball has a larger graphene core, a new high speed mantle layer to help keep the spin consistent, a thinner cover, and a new aero design for the dimples. You can feel the softness of the core when you put it in your hand. Has the triple track. I only have the CS but from the marketing on the box it appears the CSX will be a more workable version of the CS. Hoping to play before the show next week.

Will the regular CS come without the triple track lines?

My kid has stuck with the balls despite the negative press. Shot -4 in tourney play, so, he told me the ball is fine LOL...just doesn’t like lines one the ball. Thanks!

I’m glad you posted this cause cleared up some of the confused, CS, CSx. I have to be truthful when they first came out with the soccer ball version of the chrome soft and everybody was drooling over it, loving it the guy gave me a box, and I didn’t really care for it it felt good but I lost like 10 yards on every shot it seem like. So one day I tried a box of the $19 super soft, I can’t tell you how many times I’ve hit my gap wedge Apex iron or my 58° ping glide wedge and I’ve been able to back the SS off the green. Last year when I went to the local PGA show which comes after the big PGA show in Florida, I was told if I love the distance of the Callaway supersoft that the new Titleist Pro V one would really surprise me. So I was given a box and I have to say it’s the longest premium Titleist ball that I’ve hit. But for the cost of the ball and the fact that I don’t really compete the super soft has been more than enough, the only other balls that I really liked compared to that was the Bridgestone E12 soft and the Vice Pro. One day somebody gave me an ERC last year to try and it actually gave me better performance than the super soft and I love the triple track on it, so if the new chrome soft is going to be as good as you say it’s gonna be then I look forward to it because I’m planning on getting this putter as well, thanks.

My friends Callaway rep told him that the CSX will be 7 yards longer than previous & CS will be 5 yards longer. So at 95-100 swing speed I’m guessing the CS better fit for myself, cause I’m guessing you’ll need a higher swing speed to get most out of the X, correct?

Phil was using the ball that became the triple track last year. They use what would be considered prototype balls usually. Either looking for a ball that affect spin abd/or flight.

like with titleist having left dot, left dash and star versions of the provs
