I just did the math. And if I’m correct on time zones it was 1 in the afternoon Japan time when it aired here at midnight. They could have started at 10 am Japanese time and it would have been 9 pm here. Makes zero sense to me if you’re selling that airtime.

It was about as boring as golf can get. The quality of golf was mediocre; they should have picked an easier course. And they still played slow even with laser range finders and the occasional cart! Pretty sure they were playing for money to go to their charity, so it is not like there was any pressure to perform. Those guys were so friendly I don’t even think they were playing for bragging rights. Certainly nothing like the old days of skins games. And you could not convince me Tiger did not miss that putt on 18 on purpose. It was not even a good acting job.

 

I was reading somewhere else Tiger has X number of hours per year to fulfill his golftv contract, so there went 5 of them. There has to be a better way for Tiger to kill hours and be entertaining to the fans. These guys are making so much money the skins game just doesn’t move the needle anymore.

This event wasn't made with only your schedule in mind, bladehunter. It took place on the opposite side of the earth so the timing is not always going to be perfect for you. Showing this on a 16 hour delay would be useless as we would already know the results via the internet/social media, etc and not bother tuning in. They are trying to expand golf into other regions of the world and accommodate those loyal golf fans who often have to stay up at odd hours to watch all the big events that take place in the USA. Let them have this one, man!

Was in bed when this came on...found it on my phone app (Spectrum)...Tiger was on a green talking to another player to "cozy up a putt"...I assumed it was for a half, but the thought of watching people talk just like my foursome and playing for absolutely nothing at stake was not enough to keep it turned on.

 

Read about it this morning...looks like I missed nothing, and shame on the event for allowing skins to be won with pars!

By starting it at 1pm they knew they would finish in the dark. So why did they not start it at 10am?

 

There are only two reasons I can think of, Day and Matsuyama were coming in from Korea and didn't want a morning tee time or Golf Channel didn't want to air anything against the Cowboys/ Eagles game.

I concede the football deal , even though I had no idea there was a game on last night. But if it’s viewers vs football or viewers vs bedtime. I’m sure you’re going to get more vs football than vs those who work and therefore sleep.

NOBODY on the East Coast tuned in at midnight to see this........I would love to see the ratings........probably horrible.....also, after seeing some of the action, I'm not really into seeing these guys eating on the course and swinging with a mouth full of food. The commercials leading up to the event were hilarious, but the match was a complete dud.....

i loved all the bad shots and soft banter. It makes me smile because i can relate them to my sunday foursome, and at the same time realize top players are every bit as capable of making bad shots. i wished they made more horrendous shots and made it more comical. Tiger at one point said in the background (paraphrasing) "i was trying to fade cut it in, and i pull hooked it". Thats hilarious to me, cause ive done it more times than i can count.

 

I enjoyed it for what it is; a mic'up round of exhibition type golf.

Exactly. Now they’ve done it again. I planned a break today at 2 to watch the replay. Guess what. It’s not on. Lol . Golf Chanel really doesn’t know what time or day it is.

Do you guys have to be so critical of everything? It was a casual round of golf, it wasn't meant to be serious. They had a 2 man scramble on a par 3 and a 1 club challenge. I thought it was entertaining.

Agreed. End of last year it looked like he was walking very gingerly, would wince while teeing up the ball. Overall seems much more fluid

What, a high school linebacker? I remember golf announcers saying Tiger was built like a defensive back and Koepka like a linebacker. Did you see those rugby players on the par 3 team play? Those guys are built like linebackers, not Tiger or Brooks for that matter.

Well if it came on Saturday night a midnight, any of those guys who played in Korea at the CJ @ Nine Bridges wouldn't have been there as it was the final round.

Ah the good ole Skins Game. Isn't this where Fred Couples made half his yearly earnings back in the day? The old Skins games that were televised on Thanksgiving usually had some pretty good golf and drama with Freddy usually pulling off some magical feats.

tiger is not built like a linebacker. I was 2 feet away from him. Hes my height - 6'0 maybe even 5'11 tbh. . He looks like he has broad chest but really he has a TINY (and i mean tiny) waist which makes him look bigger. Big glutes. Hes 180 185 give take a few.
