They did a product announcement. It specially says it comes stock with a lower tourque non pro option of the shaft that’s used by many on tour. I’ll trust they got their details right before announcing it.

He also states this in the article... "Also, the Super Hybrid favors the player who could benefit from some draw-bias, which likely eliminates a reasonable number of higher swing-speed players."

 

That literally goes against everything Callaway is saying about this hybrid. So I wouldn't be so quick to count that article as gospel. He obviously didn't do much research.

I could be wrong, Callaway could be getting themselves and everyone else confused. It is so early in the onset of this that everyone is guessing. The video on the callaway website is pretty good. That is where I am getting and running with info for the mean time.

This is not a new name. I believe this one was Ti as well. Adams ran with the super hybrid name for a while.

A horribly confusing product page, no question. Which is why you might want to ease back on the condescension and look a little closer next time. Clearly evidence there that would lead any reasonable person to believe that it may be the pro version after all.

I don't think he was being condescending. It is obvious that no one that has chimed in knows for sure. I think what rhymes with higolfguy may have gotten this one wrong as they jumped to be the first to announce it. But they may not have.

You're probably right. The irony of telling us to pay attention to detail just kind of rubbed me the wrong way, and thought it needed to be pointed out. Sorry I've gotten things off topic. As a fairway hater, I can't wait to try these. Even those these things are creeping up toward small fairway wood size, my hope is that they'll eventually release a modern hybrid such as this in an even lower loft.

Anytime I see a weight low and back like that on a hybrid I equate that with draw weighted. I'll sit tight and wait for clarification though as it seems there was some sort of rush to get this out there before they got it straight how or why this is better than their 7 other $200+ hybrid offerings right now.

Just thought I'd add the page has changed since I first saw it this morning but I don't have screen shots to prove it, so my initial comment was accurate at the time, I tried to be a good sport and eat my words to humor you and keep this from derailing. Sorry for rubbing you the wrong way!

 

Edit: also was not trying to be condescending, trying to really make sure people know what they are buying here (which I still don't know if it's PO or CK only).

The release actually seems to correspond more with the Star Wars trailer. If you look at some of the marketing images you see the surface of a Death Star or Destroyer along with the necessary lights and lasers. Pretty cool idea actually when you tie in their tech story.

Not to mention, that's the only way they're getting a D2 swingweight at 41.5" in the 17* (assuming the heads will have the weight of a traditional hybrid). Unless the head was lighter than a normal hybrid, you'd have to have a shaft with a pretty high balance point to have a "standard" swingweight of around D2. 17* and 20* heads could be lighter I suppose.

Interesting how they jumped into both a color scheme and naming convention that Taylormade will likely not be thrilled with. And here I thought I was being original by having my TM head refinished in Black/Orange to match my Pro Orange shaft back at the end of 2016, hah!

Yep, it’s the real one. Can see in this video of the Callaway guys talking about it. The shaft has the “W” logo above the orange band.
