Has anyone rolled the Squareback 2 outside. I hit a few putts indoors and felt great, but I swear there was an audible “ting” opposed to the solid “thud”. Anyone remember the original Fastback Select and the ringing noise??

1000000% Yes. It has a ting when hit and I it was noticeable on all of my strikes when putting indoors. I promptly moved it to the side as it was very loud and annoying. I know you are asking about outside which I have not done but just wanted to confirm you are not crazy!

I remember there was a discussion somewhere(maybe on the putter subforum) about milled "widebody" style putters and the ting sound. it seems that sound is a by-product of that type of head design in a milled/non-insert putter. i noticed the same "ting"sound in the evnroll er2.2, piretti cottonwood II and in my lajosi dd201-wb, .

Hmmm. That’s unfortunate. I figured it would have to do with the weights, and sole plate. Some sort of cavity within the putter. Surprised that the Lajosi WB does the same.

In my experience Odyssey Black Series Tour Designs 1W, Metal X Milled 1W, Betti Jam Wide F don't make a "ting" noise at all so it's not all wide body blades.

I swore I read the same thing recently. I experienced the same sound with the Squareback.

I had the same experience in the store. The only wide putter I did not get that from is the Bettinardi QB6. All that being said, going to get fit for the NP2, it is incredible.

I hit the BB8 wide and it did not have a ting. It sounded deadened to me and felt great if you like harder feeling putters. The milling was very shallow and my distance control was spot on within a couple puts.

I actually really wanted the squareback, but that plate thing on the bottom and sound were a turnoff. The NP2 was just more solid.

I tried the squareback last week after putting with the NP2 for an hour. It only took me 3 putts to hand the squareback back to the sales guy. It didn’t feel or sound good after the NP2. It actually felt less stable too. Have no idea why.

I’m now curious how the other Special Selects feel because I didn’t bother trying any others.

Local store messed up my order so I decided against a Special NP2. The more putts I hit the more it became self evident that I much prefer my 2008 Select to the new model, especially with Pro V1x. The new one is way too busy with graphics. I can't stand the cherry rings in the back. Now I'm looking at a custom in the same price range. Please recommend your favorite Anser 2 style custom. I really want a clean look without useless graphics.

Byron's website is pretty messed up. I looked there and on his instagram and can't find anything. 006 is a sweet putter and I would definitely consider it.

The new 006 will be dubbed the 620. There's a reference to it (and pictures of milled heads) on his Facebook page. There was more about it on PutterTalk, but the site's been down for more than a month.

Picked up a 5.5 last week. Played 18 on Dana point and it's on target so far. Not a fan of the grip though.

Send it off and change the paintfill to metallic silver and it looks great to me then just add some color where you want it. These putters were made for the custom shop as they look great customized!

We had the exact same idea except I do not have another putter to match to just love the blue. Man the blue and silver just pops looks amazing.

I rolled the two LH models in the store today and wasn't really happy with either of them. I thought they felt a bit harsh, not the soft milled feel I was expecting. The balls on the store's putting green were Bridgestones, which felt reasonably soft (i.e. not Top Flites), so I was a little surprised. I've had a few Camerons in the past - a Cali Del Mar (two of them actually - I loved everything about them except the sight line on the flange) and a Studio Stainless Newport 2.5. Those felt noticeably better to me than the new ones.
