Any info on the Scotty Cameron Select 2020 line?

I understand your logic now. Could make sense. My hope is that it is a stainless solid milled head with no inserts. However, I have really just lost faith.

I almost pulled the trigger on a Studio Select Squareback 1.5, but just couldn't get over the insert. In all fairness it actually doesn't feel as bad as previous years, but I just can't understand why he goes that route. The Studio Select I have from before the black model year is non insert stainless, and might be the softest putter I have ever rolled. I find it softer than the T22, which has a cool feel to it but not as soft as even the original Tei3. Toulon has my business for now, as I do not see myself needing another non insert Newport 2... I could see a non insert Newport possibly as my Mil Spec is just too light.

Me too. I find myself looking for more and more non-scotty's these days. You seem to have a timeless 2 so I can't see the reason you'd be putter shopping! I have a new 350g carbon steel long neck another member sold me that is surprisingly impressive that may have a chance of replacing my gamer (a tei3 np2 long neck). The days of Scotty making long neck blades are long over.

not a timeless sadly, just the limited T22 Terrylium. The gamer was the standard studio select before inserts were the fad... such better putters without aluminum on the face. The Phantom series feels like total crap on all but then most center hits... even then it’s nothing special.

I'd like to see what these are going to look like. I was NOT that impressed with the 2019 line of Scotty putters. I just didn't get on that well with the feel off the face. I may go to the darkside with a BB model.

I agree with the above posters. I would assume that if the release date was moved up to 01/24/2020 we should have leaked photos by now. Really hoping for a good design this go around as I have some shop credit burning a hole in my pocket.

I'm looking for non insert, milled face, minimal graphics (don't really like cherry bombs or too much text), no weights - although they are okay if they aren't too flashy. I currently game a 2008 Newport 2 high toe. I'd be willing to give a new one a try. Hopefully the new ones aren't too heavy. I prefer 340-350g in 35 inches. Let's see what Scotty's been cooking up.

All of these boxes could be checked with a Circle T, but it will cost you $4000. Doubtful all of those criteria will be met with a retail release, especially based off the hot garbage that is the latest Futura series in the Phantom X. I remember when Futura’s didn’t look like space ship toys, so while I think this newest select release has potential I am not holding my breath. I still do not understand the inserts, where over the years he has modified them and managed to not even match the soft feel of a full milled face. It’s not like he even mills them anyway, all made in a cast then finished with mill marks. Inserts seem more costly and less popular, but what do I know.

If he just does a black version for a change, that by itself will have them flying off the shelves.

Given the robust second hand market for basic OTR Scotty putters, and the very robust market for the tour-only / limited release stuff, good business sense would suggest that a black version would massively stimulate the former without harming the latter.
