I believe the blades come with white covers, but have only seen black covers for the DF 2.1 (heretofore anyway).

Steve Johnston PGA Pro YouTuber just posted his glowing review 5 days ago and had a 2.1 directed force with white head cover.  Hadn’t seen it before.

Just checked the L.A.B. Golf website, and they list the White DF 2.1 TOUR headcover for $45.

It Is a bit sad so many YT reviews focus on the price while having 200+$ upcharges. I mean they do mention the upcharge but still might turn some people off

50% of videos is just talking about the price, like yes I know the price now shut up and review the putter.

True. Literally putting an upcharged price in the YT thumbnail makes me angry. Great video otherwise and another YT endorsement after Peter Finch. But why not say: The putter is 425$, mine was even more expensive, because I did go with -insert upcharge shaft and whatever here -. I mean, 425$ IS steep for a putter many people cant try before. I literally talked me out of it for the better part of the 2020 season but am now about to bite the bullet and order one with my savings from the year (no vacation and so on).

I like how LAB lays out each shaft and why you'd want to buy it. I have the B2 with the KBS shaft and it feels just fine, maybe the Stability Tour would be nicer for a softer feel but not sure if I'd drop that for just feel.

If it was me I'd review the head, mention the price and then mention there are shaft upgrades and why you'd go for them or why I went for one.

Yes, LAB is shipping only the white head covers now with new orders (can't even order the black anymore).  I was surprised by this as I was expecting a black one.  White is just going to get to dirty for my liking and doesn't match my current bag, but it's a really nice cover though.

Correct.  when reviewing drivers, you aren't always reviewing the shaft.  you mention the shaft, but there are so many variables you don't base the review off the shaft, but the sound/feel/results of the head.

Does anybody have the DF 2.1 in blue? Red and black seem to be popular but the blue seems to receive less love.

Going to send in the remote fitting video in January when I get back home from my parents. Still undecided on color (black or blue) and alignment aid (leaning towards #16).

I do like the blue but am afraid of getting tired of it after some time, black is a no-brainer-safety-option lol. I do not like a lot of lines on my putter so #16 seems about right

From my understanding, it would be a no on the custom paint fill.  You would have to send it off to some place like Continental Golf once received.

I don't believe labgolf does any custom paint fill.  If you are looking for custom see the Golf Garage:

Not bad review. Pity he was rolling it on what looks like punched greens, you can see the ball bobble up and down. Nonetheless, the ball kept its line with the forward spin.

Yeah, this putter is a keeper. It's so much fun when you heel or toe putts on the breaking curves as well knowing it will keep the line 👍

Almost pull the trigger to get one but I am undecided on the color. Those of you having black/blue/red for more than 1 year, how does the putter conditon hold up? Easily scratch leaving marks?

I read that the new nikel should be more durable than the andonized version but I would prefer black. Any feedback is appreciated.

Yeah, here's mine in blue. I went back and forth about going full blackout and blue on silver/white.. Glad I went this way. The putter draws a lot of attention as is, so I like that it's wholly unique. Plus, I love looking at Dodgers colors 😀

(sorry picture's aren't great... the overhead lighting in my house casts shadows and is a very warm color. I can get something outside in daylight tomorrow)

Nice!

So that makes AT LEAST 2 Directed Force putters in Los Angeles area... here's mine with the original Stability shaft. Bought mid year 2017 and still in play now. The only color back then is black, Black, bLACK or BLACK 😊

I'm transitioning right now from toe hang Toulon Atlanta and seeing positive results. Granted, this isn't on course due to off-season.

Be sure to read the tips in the thread: ball forward, thumbs off grip, golf ball on putter path drill...etc

I used a putter with ~45* of toe hang prior to switching and here’s why.  99.9% of people have some arc to their stroke (no matter how SBST they try to be - it’s physics).  Years & years ago the Ping putting app told me I was SBST and would benefit from a face balanced putter.  I trained for years but struggled as I tried to groove a stroke with a putter that wanted to close on the way back and open on the way through ( classic under-twist ) confirmed on camera for me.  Switching to a toe hang putter helped square the face for me but sometimes (depending on the length of putt and stroke) the face didn’t close enough or closed too much.

Basically, I was fighting putters that ( by design ) wanted to open/close in relation to my arc.  THIS putter wants to stay square to my arc, his arc, her arc, your arc.

^^^ This... I have not been able to play a round with it yet due to the weather, however, I have been able to roll on my indoor putting mat and an outdoor putting green and everything about this putter feels like it is going to be a keeper.  Need to work on distance control (coming up short), bit puts are on line and even slight mishits (toe or heel) stay on line and get it to the hole.  Two thumbs up from me so far.

Swing the putter longer, not harder to get the speed up!

We actually don't paint fill at all. We use a fiber laser to get the lines on. On the anodizing, it turns white as soon as the heat hits it. With the Nickel, it's white as well but their wasn't enough contrast so now we burn all the way into the metal and char it to get the grey.

The putter is designed to stay square to whatever arc you put the putter on. If you open or close the face in access of the arc, the putter will fight you a bit but it will also very naturally lead you to square the face to your arc, regardless of the depth of that arc. I was an 8802 guy. Took a minute but not that tough. You just need to remember that you no longer need to KEEP the face square, just LET it stay square.

All of the options are more durable than almost anything else on the market. The anodized finishes get surface scratches that wipe away with water only.

That's a massive improvement over the older days where you milled down to the bare aluminum which was fine until you played on greens where the sun was over the top and you get this bad glare...

That's one of the things Bill fixed on my original 2.0 DF when he reshafted it with the Stability way back when... 👍

Yep. Mine is from 2017 and it looks practically new. It's matte black but the finish is pretty good. The only odd thing is that because of the hard water here in Los Angeles, sometimes wiping it down with a wet towel leaves a "white powdery" trail that you can wipe off with a dry towel.

Also the newer DF has the rust proof screws at the bottom. Mine were rusting but a bit of DW40 fixed that. Can't complain about the finish at all and mine has years now to prove it.

Thanks for all great comments on this string.  Very helpful. 5 handicap, good ball striker and below average putter. Currently using Ping Scottsdale Y Worry putter found on used rack in my latest Golf Headquarters trip cut to 37", installed wrist lock Super Stroke putter grip, added extra pad taped across the little bump out to create a bit more of an angle, using in an arm lock fashion with a split grip.  Putting confidence is not at all time high 🙂  Hoping the lie angle balance of 2.1 (non arm lock) will help.   Did the virtual fitting which came back 70 and 35".  But have found a place about 40 minutes away to get fitted in person so going to do that as well just to compare.

Struggling with alignment aid choice.  Prefer a single long line on top #28 but read somewhere that because the line would be on 3 different depths due to way putter is made the line might not look straight when you set up unless eyes are directly over the ball?  Maybe a good thing to help get eyes in right position?  Was hoping somebody could share what they have seen.
