MEMBER REVIEWS: L.A.B. Golf Putters! Read What Members Are Saying Now!

After watching the Rick Shiels and Peter Finch reviews of the LAB putter I found myself on this forum. A thorough read through of 24 pages (as it was then) and I was sold on the idea. As soon as the UK lockdown was lifted I went for a fitting and have been waiting for the delivery of my DF2.1 - I’m told it’s imminent so hopefully I’ll have it within the week.

I’m a high handicapper having taken up the game 18 months ago. I average 2 putts/hole but have had 31 putt rounds (as well as 40+!!!). Even before watching and reading the reviews I could tell that my putter was twisting on the backstroke (I assume caused by torque) plus I was not always hitting the sweet spot (my YES putter not being overly forgiving). Thus the LAB putter seemed to answer these two issues which was causing my direction and distance control to be variable.

I recognise that my new LAB will not miraculously solve all my putting issues so I’ve been trying to practice some of the techniques I’ve read about on this thread on my existing putter.  I invested in Blast Motion which I find very useful for tempo plus I bought an Exputt simulator which is great for putts longer than I can manage on the kitchen putting mat! Frustratingly my daily walks and runs take me through my home golf course but it’s tantalisingly out of reach with the current lockdown and no golf being played in the UK. The exputt and BM will suffice until I can get on a real putting green again - maybe March or April.

As a number of you have done, I’ll post my experiences as I try the dF2.1 out and ask for assistance if you don’t mind.

I’ve ordered the black model with stock shaft and no 19 aim markings. I must admit I have a small amount of buyers remorse, wishing I’d ordered the nickel version, but I’m sure that’ll pass when I get my hands on mine.

Anyone have an extra 3 degree grip?

They used to have them on their eBay outlet store - labgolfoutlet  and it was free shipping too.

Finally starting to feel it a little bit. Confidence has not been good yet on short or long putts as I was pulling short and distance was off on long ones.  Leaving some short and some too long.

today’s practice was good.  Short putts are starting to feel more natural and less “work” to not manipulate the putter. Long ones are getting better too if I have a few to gauge distance. The first long putt on a green has been scary so far guessing the feel and distance.

liking it more and more.

Did I see a post about someone doing custom headcovers for the 2.1? I tried looking back through this thread but any search is too generic, and 38 pages is too many to go through. Am I crazy?

There was a fellow who had one made for himself but did not make extras. We have a custom USA cover available now. Its rad

Had it out a few times on the course now. So much more confident from 10 feet and in. Love the aiming lines. Point, swing, and accept. Face on, looking at a spot on the flagstick that I want the ball to hit. Aim small, miss small. Can’t recommend the putter enough (as long as you don’t play in my Men’s league!).

I ended up selling my 2.1 the jump from armlock and broomstick was to big and I never felt comfortable. Even though this didn’t work out I still feel that this putter is the easiest putter to keep in line , aim and the press grip is great. will order a armlock or broomstick when I save up the cash :D... Ill be back !

Just ordered  the American flag head cover.  I love custom or non stock head covers on my woods and putters.  Love my TBC putter covers but with this being center shafted the options are limited.  Saw the custom one a few pages back and it looks good.  I Ike the American flag one they offered so thought while not.  That’s a good sign I’m keeping the putter.

You will love it. It is a very well made putter cover. My only complaint is that I feel it fits a little too snug and is kind of a pain to get on. Maybe over time, it will stretch out, but only time will tell.

Yes, Delilah's Club Covers does custom headcovers. She has done one for another WRXr ( @SwingBlues ), and I am having her do one as well for my 2.1 (still waiting in queue). Currently, Delilah's wait time is eight weeks, but it's well worth the wait. She does excellent work and has made a couple of different covers for me over the years. Here is a link to the thread with pics:

I think I'm going to part ways with my B.2. I'm just not vibing with it, noticing I don't reach for it at home practicing. I think it's a good putter but I think the DF2.1 will work out better for me and definitely want to try that. I think stability and feel will be better for me along with alignment.

So probably going to move this and then wait for LAB to get their LH grips in stock, do a video fitting to double check specs and see if they have anything in my specs in the outlet for the DF2.1 .

How do you like it?

Did you go for a fitting or how did you get your specs?

How long did you go with and what lie & loft.

What Broomstick did you use before and what's the biggest difference?

Thinking about ordering one but are located in Sweden so no chance of a fitting or trying here.

I didn’t try it before either (couldn’t find one to try). But I was using a 48 inch, 79.5* lie angle GP long putter. Liked it but the head was very small and the shaft was not solid enough. I ordered the same specs with this putter and love it. It did come a bit shorter than my previous 48 inch (not sure why), but it works. I would strongly recommend the upgraded stability or LAGP shaft that I ordered. I don’t think it matters as much on a shorter regular putter, but my distance control is so much better which I attribute partly to the consistency of the shaft (and the lack of head twisting on mishits as well). If you’re familiar with long putters, I would say do it. I putt face on looking at the hole and I’ve never felt this comfortable before with a new putter. No way this thing comes out of my bag.

Thank you so much for your answer.

Sound exactly what I'm looking for. And yes the stiffer shaft is a must on long putters. Have the Odyssey Broomstick and the shaft is like a rubberband. Useless.

Do you mind me asking what you paid for yours with that shaft and set up?

Thanks alot

Mine was north of $700. But I paid about half of that for my Callaway Epic Flash driver when it went on sale last year and use the putter twice as often in a round so why not! 🙂 I don’t remember the exact price. I originally ordered it with the KBS shaft but it was bent on arrival. I then called LAB and reordered the putter with the LAGP shaft and just added about $230 to the cost.

OK, thanks again för info.

Can't find the LAGP shaft on their website. Did you try the putter with the KBS or it was to bad on delivery?

Built one on the Web page with the stability shaft and it came to $869.

Then I have to pay import charges and customs fees so it will probably ad up to around $1200.

Its pretty steep... My Ping G410 LST with a Ventus Blue was around $800.

The stock shaft was not puttable, so I didn’t give it a try. I called and inquired about the different stability shaft options when I reordered and asked about the LA shaft since they used to carry it. They do have a couple lying around but not enough to put on the website was my understanding.

I was told no LAGP shafts until LA Golf can get their stuff right.  I was told they were kind of a mess right now.  Trying to get organized.  I asked about that shaft and would have chosen it over the BGT stability tour

We were having too many problems with the LAGP so we are not offering it for the time being. The BGT is an excellent option for Broomstick

Have you guys considered shafts from someone like Accra? They have graphite shafts in 4 different options and I'm sure they could build broomstick length, they also don't cost $400.

Thanks for answering.

Is there a big difference between KBS black and the BGT in a Broomstick?

Also can you get the BGT in an all black colour?

In fact we have been working with them to develop a proprietary shaft for both our standard and broomstick length putters. Hoping to have them by March.
