DeChambeau Up 25 Lbs

Holy Moses

If you look at the strongest most powerful people on the planet. Namely power lifters they are big and bulky. Not lean. I think that is training mentality Bryson is going with. He wants power and explosiveness. To get that you have to bulk. I think he is getting less and less concerned about preconceived body image norms. He is looking at the ballspeed numbers like a power lifter looks at deadlifts. He is thinking "one more mile per". Then "one more MPH".

So...how much is he dead/squat/benching these days?

I haven’t seen him post any numbers or even pics of him doing these lifts and these lifts are the keys to actually adding mass. But you don’t even need to make gaining mass a goal to gain strength. The ideal rep range for hypertrophy is higher than for strength gains.

Here is BK doing 225 for 15 reps. When is BD going to post something like this so we know what all this “bulking” is accomplishing?

I have no idea. I don't even know if he is applying any power lifting moves in his training. To me it just seems that the power lifter approach is the one that he is taking. Bulk up, get big even if his body shape is not what is considered aesthetically pleasing to most all in the name of performance as he defines it.

If he is able to gain strength with the added size, he should be able to use that added body weight to his advantage in hitting the ball.

EDIT** I want to be honest and say that I have no idea what BD is doing. This is just my opinion based on what I am seeing. I could be 100% off. But he seem to be getting very big and bulky, he seems to chasing just raw power. that is why I say power lifter.

Declared... Never graduated.. He was a declared physics major.. haha. Also, I do think Jack did some exorcising. He was known as Fat Jack for a while but thing trimmed up a bit.

Bryson looks soft, watery and just bloated. Definitely just eating everything in the cupboards which is what you need to do to achieve his goal. Not sure how he has abs because he's clearly at 20% or more body fat but then again its a black and white photo plus photoshopped. I never understood the hype from people with golfers being "jacked" when they aren't. Is it because most golfers have "dad bods" or just no shape to their physique? I mean every one gushed over Brooks but he looked average in his photoshoot. I guess we just have to wear clothes a size smaller and you automatically get called jacked on the PGA tour.

yeah I was trying not to say that haha. He's obviously done some research into the topic so I don't want to completely sh** all over him until he can't control where his shot goes and plummets down the leaderboard.

I don't want that for him, but chasing speed and distance hasn't worked out for others in the past, has it?

You know what, he looks good, gained some solid muscle and, if he’s showing abs, he can’t be much above 15% BF.

He looks like what he said he’d do, lifted and bulked. If he were to keep lifting and go calorie deficit, he’d look fantastic.

Has great genes. BK has been lifting for years and doesn’t show muscle as good.

Now, I don’t know if this will all actually lower his scores, lol, but he’s doing a great job.

You think? Maybe couple extra shadows, lol, but I don’t think much, if at all.

Some people just show abs better. Especially if they “do abs”. At 15% he could look like that. Looks like a guy who started lifting, eats a lot, got some good newbie gains, and has good genetics.

But....will it lower his scores? ?

I have been asking that question since he started this quest.. I don't know. I kinda hope so. I am actually a fan. I love his dedication and crazy approach. Just hit the dang ball though..

The only thing that I can definitively say about DeChambeau is that he seems to like attention. Other than that, what we "know" of him is really just the stuff that has been pushed by the media and his (supposed) PR team - as well as a few tournament out-takes. Tough to really know or judge a person from that amount of information.

So, I would argue that what most of us are reacting to - whether positive or negative - is not the person, but the narrative that has been created around him. And I, for one, really don't get the appeal of that narrative.

I don't understand why we all think he is so "smart". Just because someone shows an interest in math or physics doesn't immediately make them a genius. Math and physics are no more or less difficult or intellectually demanding that other subjects. We use an equally complex and abstracted system called "language" everyday, but because it is more familiar to us, we think nothing of it.

So, using the supposed "genius" of DeChambeau as a foundation, the persistent narrative has been that he would defeat the golf course using his intellect and eccentricity, right? With his parabolas, air density readings, and one length clubs, he was going to revolutionize the game, right?

Oh wait, side-saddle putting. That's the thing that will get him over.

Well, maybe the Todd Marinovich "sport-science" approach...

Sounds to me like a bunch of folks grasping at straws - both DeChambeau and the sports writers.

Absolutely. Someone had to have photoshopped Bruce’s pecs out of the photo.

Seriously, though, how is that one can be that flat-chested while also being able to put up the weight that he can allegedly bench?
