I totally agree.

I’m a fan of Bryson. I’ve always had a one plane swing and found it very natural for me. It’s nowhere as effective as his obviously. I’ve also switched to Jumbomax and will never go back. I come from a childhood of baseball and find these grips so much more natural.

I think Bryson may be a bit misunderstood. He comes off as a bit of a donkey and a know-it-all and he is painfully slow at time. Also, I think he should not be using social media (but i also think no adult should be using SM) But, we can’t ignore his follow through (so to speak) regarding his unique approach to the game. He takes more heat than most people but is actively disproving the haters.

I would imagine if anyone here was somehow able to hang out with him for a meal and some drinks he would actually be quite a nice guy but for obvious reasons that’s not possible.

He looks to be built about like I am. I played baseball all my life and when I played 98% of the time I caught. When I graduated high school I weighed 165lbs. Not cut but slim, narrow waist and narrow shoulders and chest. My sophomore year of college I started working for a furniture store doing deliveries. Carrying sofas and chests of drawers around five days a week coupled with a growth spurt, not up, but broader, and I gained weight. I was around 215. Went from wearing a 15 1/2, 32" dress shirt to a 17 1/2, 36". I got bigger and more muscular. Frankly I would have loved to have been built this way when I was playing baseball I could have done some damage.

Anywho, fast forward 15 years and get yourself married, a desk job and three kids and now I am closer to 240. I think he will need to be careful if he bulks this way and then for some reason (injury, etc) has to cut back or quit working out. Or his metabolism slows. That bulk will relocate to his middle. I doubt he will look bad because it appears he has a frame that can carry it.

To the extent people are saying his swing mechanics are breaking down, he looks to be splitting fairways right down the middle and long. And, he's playing quite well so far.

I’m not sure why all the haters are saying this isn’t natural and doesn’t seem normal and BAD looks fat. This has nothing to do with being normal or looking natural. Bryson will literally get fatter and fatter (and stronger and stronger) until it no longer helps his game. If he can get to 300lbs - because that helps his game - that’s exactly what he’ll do. If the weight gain no longer helps his game he’ll stop.

I think it is hilarious that people were making fun of him for his "nerdiness" and scientific way he approaches golf and saying he was crazy.

So when he decided to bulk up they continued to make fun of him.

From the interview post round I saw yesterday, he increased his distance by 20 yards and his accuracy from 50-something% to 60-something% and he now leads the tour in driving.

Seems like he knows what the heck he is doing.

don't think its really how much you weigh, it's changing your body drastically after being really good.

Its pretty simple what he did, he most likely has a trainer and is eating a certain high amount of calories, and lifting heavy while also doing speed training and working with his swing coach. He has the resources to put alot of effort into this and it's really not that hard to do to pick up speed. This is how long drive guys train.

The difficult part becomes keeping your accuracy and touch but he is a pretty talented golfer in the first place.
