DeChambeau Up 25 Lbs

I’m not a Bryson fan but I do love the fact he said he was going to get huge to gain distance and he did.

He knows Distance wins tournaments these days. It’s a weapon and he went nuclear with it. Cool. I’m excited to see what it leads to but he is certainly playing well. You watch how many guys start bulking now after they see him unleash “The Kraken” a few times! Lolololol!!

Your avatar is awesome!

Is the guy right, is the guy wrong? I don't know... But you are correct, he said what he was going to do and did it. I'm not much of a Bryson fan either, but I definitely respect those who are willing to put it on the line.

A photo of him at age 21 vs. 26 isn't a real fair comparison. The time between those two photos is peak body maturity years for males. Would guess he was 10-15 pounds heavier than the US Am photo prior to the latest weight gain. You could find two photos of Lebron early Cav's vs. Heat days and see similar size gains minus the extra fat. If he's gained 20 mph of playable ball speed in a sport where distance means exponentially better performance all while creating a freakish amount of buzz around his personal brand I'd say it is a good thing.

What makes it a bad thing? Lol. I don’t get the issue with his physical transformation. The left picture looks like a scrawny teenager and the right one looks like he’s grown up and put on a few pounds. According to the old charts he should be between 145ish-180ish which is laughable. People change, have different genetics/body types, etc. There is no cookie cutter metric for telling people what they should weigh and if he wants to carry a few extra pounds then so be it. Some of you act like he’s a morbidly obese fat slob and that’s FAR from the case. The dude has access to the best trainers, physicians, etc but you all know more than any of them. Lol

Nope was saying you cherry picked photos to find the largest body discrepancy possible. Was using Lebron as an example that during peak male body maturity years many young men will put on a significant amount of weight. A photo of Bryson at 21 vs. the peak of his weight gain is going to look drastic just like a photo of Lebron early Cav's years vs. peak weight Heat years is going to look drastic.

Ern, can I call you Ern?

This is what it is. And you know I’m right.

When I was 18, I was 5’11, 177. I could throw 225 bench 10x and run through a wall.

I told myself, as got heavier, oh I’m just filling out. So, I gained 10, 20, 30 pounds.

Then, I smartened up. I built up muscle and ripped out the fat.

And you know what I weigh?

177 ; )

Yes Ern is fine. So you’re saying you CHOSE to change your body? Isn’t that what Bryson is doing? You can say he would look better or be healthier if he lost 40lbs but that’s just your opinion and is in no way a fact. When I was 18 I was 5’11” and weighed 160, maintained about a 175 weight for most of my time in the service and grew an inch, and now at 40ish I weigh 220ish. I’d say I didn’t start filling out and putting on a lot of muscle until my late 20s early 30s. There is absolutely no way I could ever see myself below 200 lbs again. I’d say 210 would be my ideal weight but I like to enjoy the little things in life. There was a time in my mid 30s where I was around 240 but I was the strongest I had ever been benching almost 400lbs and squatting close to 500. I chose to back off of that because I like to play golf without feeling like I’m being stabbed in the back and it gets tough wiping your a** with too much muscle and hindered flexibility.

?

Dont know, haven’t thrown anything besides a nerf for decades. But, I can say that my right shoulder was pretty shot before I got back into strength training. I couldn’t raise my arm much less throw a ball. But now I can chuck a nerf all day and have full range of motion back. I’m sure I’m lucky in some ways as far as my particular shoulder impingement healing this way.

As far as Bryson, I doubt he wants to stay this heavy and can readily knock the weight off. At his age, I think the only health issue would be the affect of the extra weight on his joints/knees but if he’s strength training, I imagine he be fine.

gotta wonder how much each pound of body mass increase correlates to increased money earnings through golf? was watching the 1978 masters golf on utube and saw that only 20% of the players wore a hat, of any kind. now every (99%) pro golfer wears a hat only because of increased earnings by doing so. so obviously $$$ drives desire and innovation, even in golf

And, what the heck does BDC mean when he 'unleashes the kraken'? google tells me kraken makes swell golf pitchforks and ball marker coins

The Krakan is a mythologized monster from the deep with many tentacles that was greatly feared by sailors. Many ships that vanished without a trace were theorized to have been taken by the Kraken. It was recently popularized in one of the Pirates of the Caribbean movies.
