Bandon in September - 36

Looking at doing Bandon over labor day. I've previously been in July. Questions I have. If we get first tee time around 8 AM and plan on second 18 around 2 pm, would we be guaranteed finish? How close would it be?

 

How is the weather in early September vs. Late July?

I've never been in September, so you're probably best calling the course to ask if an 8am time can still allow for 36.

 

But in another thread these guys went about a month later than you are thinking and played 36 in a day, so I'd think it's possible if you're flexible with your tee time.

Sunset in early September is a little after 7:30 pm. If you start at 2 pm you should be able to finish 18 holes.

 

As for Bandon weather, it’s difficult to speak in absolute terms. Generally, there is less wind in September than July & the temperature is pleasant.

 

( if you’re booking for September 2020, I’d do it as soon as possible because the rooms get reserved very quickly.)

I went the last week of September in 2017 and the first week of July this year. 36/day is very doable either time, we did it most every day. Obviously the earlier you start & the faster turnaround between rounds, the better. We did have days on both trips where we got into Round #3 and played either The Preserve, the Front 9 at Bandon Dunes, or a 7-hole loop at Trails (1-5, 17-18). It's free at that point, so why not. Ryu123 is right about the weather, while unpredictable it is typically windier in July and pleasant in September with a bit more chance of rain. Really, either is a great time to go.

For what it’s worth, i’ve played 36 a day in Nov., Jan, Feb, March and April. So as long as you time it right and don’t need a sit down 3 course meal in between you should be fine.

 

That said i’m a “stop by the room, change shoes and socks, grab a sandwich on the way and go” guy.

Yup, did 36 a day in December for 3 straight days. You just need to get one of the first 4 tee times of the day and have a tight turnaround, just enough time to stop by the room grab a snack and eat it as you're playing your 19th hole. Feels like you're stealing playing a Pacific Dunes afternoon round for $50 btw. Getting dark by hole 34-36 but we finished them all!
