Alison Lee and Cheyenne Woods

Tailgater

Recommended Posts

Combination of limited opportunities to play and mediocre results. Cheyenne only played in 13 events, and missed the cut in 10 of them. Ouch. She finished 31T, 69T, and 69T. Double ouch.

Alison did much better, barely missing out on the 100th spot on the money list. She played in Korea rather than teeing it up in Texas, which was an odd decision knowing that she was ~$13k short of securing a card for next season. She missed the cut in half of her 18 events, and finished better than 20th only two times.

Sad, but the majority of times I recall seeing Cheyenne on TV this season, she was missing relatively (by pro standards) straightforward birdie putts.

Like others have stated, I'm rooting for them, but with the pool of talented women golfers being what it is now, I wouldn't be shocked if neither makes it out of Q-School.

I'm not terribly surprised. Lee hasn't really played a ton and when she did, the results were mixed with middle to bottom finishes. Cheyenne has been missing cuts like it was her job. Everyone knows who's dominating out there and a hard Tour to have success with has gotten even harder. That goes with the territory I suppose.

Deep pockets? I believe Cheyenne has a few $$$ from Nike sponsorship.

Yeah you have a point. I guess money is money, but it would be nice if your boss was even slightly successful.

It comes down to the caddie and their belief that the talent will finally come and bear fruit. We see it on the PGA Tour also. A guy just kind of hangs on playing and they have a loyal caddie and confidant. They go through it with the player every step of the way. Plus, those jobs are hard to get.

I believe Cheyenne has a future in golf, but not as a player on the LPGA. She just does not have the talent to compete with the best in the world. She does, however, have other talents. She is knowledgeable about golf, is super attractive, articulate, & has the "Woods" connection, so she should have many opportunities for a career in golf on TV, just not as a player.

Agreed, she's likely not the only one who fits that particular bill.

lol, I figured that was coming. Not to my knowledge. But he was rather "frisky" if you recall, so who knows what may surface at some point....

I think @musclefront meant other family besides Cheyenne. Maybe not though.

So Allison will have to get sponsor's exemptions or play in weaker fields? Maybe it has nothing directly to do with this, but it seems from social media that she puts a lot more effort into partying than her game.

Cheyenne Woods making a sponsor’s invite appearance at the LET event in Andalucia, Spain. Going along very well so far, T1 with Christina Kim at -5.

Available via livestream on both Golf Channel and NBC Sports apps. 8:30am broadcast time, but at least it’s something.

The field was full of top LET talent. I don't see her winning either, but four good rounds rounds is all one needs. She could easily have "her moment", but I wouldn't expect a sudden run of greatness to follow a win if it happened. I give her credit for not hanging it up though, she needs to keep riding the "Woods" namesake as long as people keep paying her.

I can foresee some kind of arrangement where—with this new LPGA LET partnership—Cheyenne and a few other tier 2 talents play more on the LET next year to help promote LET events.
